He'll play anywhere if he doesn't have a job. If hes healthy, he is better than Richards. It is worth it on a 1yr.

The title of this thread is sickeningly ironic. Someone change it.

I'm not so sure about him willing to play anywhere. Before 2012, I was a big fan. Besides, I doubt he would take a cheap 1 year deal.

I agree that he's better than Richards if he's healthy, but Briere is seldom healthy. I love the idea of a healthy Briere out there exploiting a matchup but I don't think he's the same Briere anymore. He was never able to bounce back this year and he would become a tremendous defensive liability, probably worse than before. He hasn't been playing much center for a while now.

As it stands right now, I want no part of Richards. If it turns out there are special circumstances (injury or something like that), then I might be interested.

ECF all but set. Pens vs Bruins, barring the biggest collapse ever by Boston.

We don't, we would have a worse team now and Crawford is at his level.

Niemi is better than Crawford... no doubt about that. Not that Crawford is bad or a problem, it's just that Niemi is a bit better and more constant than him + more proven

We shouldn't be comparing Niemi to Crawford...we need to look at it as a whole.

Hammer + Crawford

vs

Niemi + (who knows what it could of been)

What could of been could of been just a depth dman who could be killing us right now with crappy play, or it could of been a legit 2nd line C.

if you do this, it would be

Hjammer + Crawford vs. Niemi + 1st + 3rd + ??

going by goalie vs goalie alone, Niemi is the better and more proven

Rangers fans have been sweating a little recently wondering about Lundqvist's long-term plans.

The first rumors about his next contract are that he wants big money (~10M).

It's a place to start negotiating from, but there are worries about how much he would fall from that number given the poor way the team in front of him has been managed.

that's a lot of $ to give to someone who will be 32 when the contract starts.

I don't care how good he is, I would never spend that kind of money on him.

If he wants the Rangers to be a competitive team, he is out of his mind asking for that much.

After what Bryz got, Hank has every right to ask for the moon.

I understand trying to get as much money as you can. But one player making that much is detrimental when you have a cap to work with. It seems many players don't understand this.

With the cap going down, he won't get that much.

But the Rangers are a team that depends on their goalie to be their MVP every night, like Nashville and Rinne.

When you lean on a player that much, they have a lot of leverage in negotiations.

I agree with you in a general sense - but if Hank wants "the moon" from the Rags it will kill their ability to have a competitive team - so he'll have to decide whether he wants the $ or the team...i.e. imo it would be a bad idea for NYR to commit huge cap space to a goalie in his early 30s (or a goalie in general).

Kings in with the win.

TBH, no matter how we do tomorrow i think LA has got to be the fave for SCF.

eta...meaning...if we win tomorrow...and if we beat them then i think they'll be the hardest competition we would face.
