Admittedly I don't watch that many Flames games. However I do see them vs. the Canucks and on TSN every so often. I must say that Leopold is starting to make me a believer. Last year I just didn't see what the hype was with this kid. Now, he looks so calm in his own end and is starting to try things offensively. He has some dandy moves coming in off the blueline, is a slick skater with solid positioning and passes the puck tape-to-tape almost every time. His only offensive weakness is that his shot is rather mediocre-at least IMO anyways. If he keeps progressing like this he could be a legit #1 d-man IMO-similar but more talented version of Keith Carney. Just thought I'd give Calgary some props for finally icing a young, talented player who impresses me They haven't really done that since Iginla. Lombardi looks pretty good as well. If Phaneuf is as good as advertised, Calgary some solid pieces to build on.
He started to make some nice strides down the stretch last season, but he's really stepped another notch this season. He regularly leads all Flames skaters in ice time, seeing plenty of minutes in all situations.
