Yes. It doesn't really take guts anyhow.

Miller and his new deal go to Phoenix for XXX an hour after the contract is signed.

I've always thought this was allowable but I haven't gone through the new CBA much.
No one can talk extension yet.

I think Darcy gets the best deal for them. If someone in the west is offering the same then he'd probably go west, but he takes a better offer regardless of team.

I think this idea is as hopeless as getting into the top three of the draft. Darcy is typically very careful with his words. At pominville trade presser, he refused to use the "R word" primarily to not scare away Vanek and Miller from resigning. But after the exit interviews, he is fine using words even beyond "rebuild" like long-term "suffering." Clearly Vanek and Miller want out(or Darcy has an offer he can't refuse). Otherwise, Darcy would be much more careful with his words.

On the Miller front, Darcy did trade with Philly in the Biron trade so there's chance he understands you take whatever you can get with goalies. However, Darcy has never traded with New Jersey, Anaheim or Carolina. All of these teams have long-tenured GMs too.

Definitely gives me concerns:

trade for miller:
New Jersey, Anaheim

Trading Up in the Draft
Carolina

What is this "Eastern Conference" you speak of? Don't you play everyone outside your division twice now?

He said resign not re-sign. I'd assume that was a deliberate choice.

Christ I forgot about that.
That'll suck

But Regier will go after the best deal he gets. He should at least

for miller to be dealt in season it will most likely be driven by (1) injury or (2) young goalie counted on to start implodes.

Vanek on the other hand can easily be dealt at the deadline.

That is why i think miller is dealt first.

With Vanek they would like to keep him...so his deal may wait until mid after the draft but before UFAs start when Buffalo can talk to Vanek about an extension.
