Tier 3-
Anthony Duclair, William Carrier, Hudson Fasching, Marko Dano, Jordan Subban

Tried to cut it down..... wasn't necessarily successful. Players to add? Movement between the tiers? Obviously leaning towards drafting forwards. I'd put Mirco Mueller in there somewhere....seems to be all over the place though.

Loving the info on Laplante...

I'll still stand with my original hoped for mock result :
24/25 - Samuel Morin

34 - Andrei Burakovsky

36- Jason Dickinson

57 - Oliver Bjorkstrand

71 - Yan Pavel Laplante

88 - Phillippe Desrossier
Make any of this happen and I will be very, very happy.

No surprise there, but Mantha has been interviewed by the Habs.
No surprise. Jones, MacKinnon and Drouin will probably be interviewed by 15 teams.

To this writer, the key is Morin. If we can secure him, with the depth of this draft , whomever else we draft is just gravy.

First draft I have seen that I like each pick and they are placed around where they are expected to go in the draft. Good job....now only 32 days to wait to see how close we are in our evaluations

That's a good draft.

You're pretty high on Morin, then?

If Lazar, Mantha, Gauthier, Zykov, Erne are gone and no other top 15 guys fall (i.e. Wennberg) than I'd pick Morin with our first.

So... taking the Timmins-template for draft picks.... I'm GONNA RATE SOME PLAYERS. Anything else particularly Timmin-sy I should include?

Foot speed
Pedigree (I don't have the patience to find out, so forget about this one)
Character (On-ice and interviews)
Work Ethic (Just from what I've read/seen)
Hockey IQ
Physical Tools

So based on FCWHT, let's take a look at some of my favourite prospects:

Jacob De La Rose
F-9/10
C-8/10
W-9/10
H-7.5/10
T-8.5/10
AVG=8.4

Laurent Dauphin
F-7.5/10
C-8/10
W-8/10
H-8.5/10
T-7.5/10
AVG=7.9

Frederik Gauthier
F-7/10
C-8/10
W-7.5/10
H-8.5/10
T-9.5/10
AVG=8.1

Artturi Lehkonen
F-8.5/10
C-8/10
W-7/10
H-9/10
T-8.5/10
AVG=8.2

Ryan Hartman
F-8/10
C-8.5/10
W-9/10
H-8/10
T-8/10
AVG=8.3

What do you all think? I was just messing around but it seems to work out okay for measuring prospects.

I know some aren't over the moon with De la but man can he skate. Best case scenario is us getting him with our late 2nd but that seems unlikely. Hopefully his lack of production will have him drop.

I really really like Dauphin's game. I'm sure he'll fill out. I think we try and nab him with one of those early 2nds.

I don't know much about Lekhonen but I really like the rest of these guys and they're definitely Timmins-y. I think we need to add Carrier to this list.

Nice try.......but each of these categories are wildly subjective which makes the average result pretty much irrelevant unless Timmins is the one punching in the data.

That being said, if Timmins picks JDLR over Hartman I will demand a drug test. I will take Ryan Callahan over Chad Kilger every day of the week.

You also left out the fact that Timmins factors skill into the equation. I am assuming you didn't put skill in the physical tools department because there is no way that JDLR would be an 8.5 if you had done so.

Anyways.........nice effort

Of all the players that we could reasonably expect to be available at 24/25 or whom we could contemplate moving up for, Morin stands out. His play at the U18s was an eye opener. His combination of size, mobility and ice presence makes him a player that projects very well as an NHLer. I suspect that I am not the only one who believes in this player's immense potential. It would not surprise me that he goes in the first 15 picks. There are a lot of quality defencemen available in this draft, some overated (Nurse , Morrissey, Pulock, Zadorov and Hagg ) and some underrated ( Bowey and Heatherington). In my assessment, among available defenceman, Morin has the best potential after Jones and Ristolainen. As I previously posted, there are only two players that I would consider moving up for: Morin and Lazar. Both should go between 10 and 15 and could be obtained without paying a king's ransom. To select Morin, I would gladly give up our first along with one of our seconds and one of our thirds. Would that be enough to move up 6 or 8 spots? I don't know. Maybe, Morin will fall to us. We could get lucky. But then again, I have long since given up believing in the tooth fairy.

Haha, you caught me, it's definitely biased based on my viewings of the players. Guess we could poll everyone and get their opinions on the ratings and go from there... who has that kind of patience though?

I'm honestly not that excited about Hartman. He seems alright but he doesn't give me the feeling that he'll be a high-impact player (Callahan, Dubinsky type of impact) that everyone seems so excited about. I'll be fine with drafting him but he definitely isn't a "sexy" pick IMO.

I'm thinking DLR will be at #34. He's got what Timmins wants, he's just got to put it together. With a little bit of maturing, I think his top-6 upside will show.

Are you implying that DLR doesn't have skills? He's got good hands, good wrist shot, his passing could use work. He's very solid defensively, creates offence.... He's no Drouin but he's no grinder either.

Took a while for me to understand who they were talking about on TSN and Rogers as it sounded like deerozer...

Lehkonen is undersized but putting up big numbers in the SM-Liiga against men. 42gp 30pts I believe? Drawing comparisons to Cammy. He could be a steal if he fills out.

I seem to do this a lot, sorry if it's irritating. This week I'm leaning towards:

#25- Hartman/Morin
#34/#36-Mccoshen/De La Rose/Dauphin/Lehkonen
#55-Duclair/Subban/Carrier
#71-Laplante/Diaby
#85-Desrosier/Fasching/Arnesson
