I was under the impression that maybe management decided that since Rivet looked more solid than Komi in the playoffs and has been consistent throughout his years with us he was merited with the 2nd spot...Funny though, cuz Komi isn't even our 3rd best dman yet he's on the first pairing (I will admit though he does play better with Markov than he does with anyone else).

It has alway been true that the first 5-10 games of any year, all teams are in building chemistry mode. New players new lines just need that first 5 games under thier belt. This year is no different.

Buffalo has played thier first and won so they are one up on the habs right from the start. That much harder to beat on thier home ice.

From the Habs standpoint, sure you want to win but overall it's even more important to see the forward lines click and that Huet is back up to speed and that Ninimaa is effective with his linemate.

Show me the Hab team speed again, show me the end of the preseason stupid penilties, show me a more dangerous PP, show me some realy good stops by Huet, show me all this and I will be a happy camper"win or lose".

A note on last nights TO vs OT game. Clearly Toronto wont win the cup, playoffs maybe. The big news is that Ottawa has holes. Gerber might be a good goalie but this is not Luongo. Ottawa defence without Chara is quite different now arn't they. But 6-0 also means your vaunted offence was guilty of being human, no come-back last night. Ottawa is now beatable, still a very good team but league killers they are no longer.

Parity is much closer this year, and that means, the team that stay s healthy or has good depth will have an advantage over the rest in the long run. Everyone is healthy in October but lets see come January.

I looked at the Toronto/Ottawa game last night, and damn, I could just imagine Montreal coming out just as flat as Ottawa did. Those games that the whole team seems to take a night off, can't happen this year. We've always had a weakness in the transition game, getting into the zone, solving hot goalies, taking lazy penalties, unable to do anything on the powerplay for long stretches. The Habs are a great team this year and can do some damage when everyone is one the same page. I just hope Carbo can solve the problems we continuously have every year and especially get the guys pumped for every game.

From the sounds of the guys in the preseason the guys are ready. Let's hope they are. Here's to a hard fight to the finish!

Considering only Canadian Networks (RDS and TSN) will carry the game I think you're out of luck.

This game will be decided by the goalies. Personally I see the D on both teams having some trouble with the speed of the opposing forwards. Miller has shown that he has picked up where he left off last year. Huet is still trying to find his game.

Buffalo is coming off a great game against the Canes.
Montreal has been resting at Tremblant all week.

Montreal has a new coaching staff.
Sabres are on the same page as Ruff.

Prediction

Buf 5 Mtl 2

you guys think you are pumped?! im leaving work at 2:00 in toronto and driving all the way to montreal, arriving right when the game starts! i can feakin' wait!

in the nhl.com pre game, i noticed this:
"helping the Canadiens score a league-high 34 goals in nine preseason games."

wow, and our points distribution was very spred out among our players!
we just need the defense to click, and the goalie to play solid, and things will be looking great! i cant wait to see how we do in a real game tonight and tommorow!
GO HABS!

Can't wait, this is the only positive for today since I'm sick.

I predict a 2-1 Montreal win.
Scoreless first period
Afinogenov from Hect in the second
In the third.
Higgins scores from Koivu and Markov
Plekanec scores from Kovalev and Samsonov

Shots 31-23 for Buffalo.
Penalties 6 to Montreal and 3 to Buffalo. Buffalo goes 1/6 on the PP and Montreal goes 1/3.

The quest for #25 begins tonight!

I say that the Habs will win 3-1 with goals by Kovalev, Johnson, and Ryder.

Miller is 4-0-1 with a 1.78 goals-against average

I just saw on TSN...

Miller is 4-0-1 with a 1.78 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage in five career games against Montreal.

Good luck Habs... You can pull it off. We just need Huet with a 1.000 save percentage....

Best case Scenario : Habs win a close one , With a good performance from the line that has the most to prove : The THIRD line, thats right folks, I expect a great show from Bonk, Zhogy and Johnson.

Worst Case scenario : The Rivet - Souray pairing gets a tough game too many penalties, Habs get a goal or two but get lose the game due to disciplinary issues
