I have a bad feeling about you being a pessimist....

PS. Dont reply by saying, ''I'm just trying to be realistic.'' Cause realisticly, we dont need any negative comments! This goes for all of you with negative comments for our beloved Habs season debut!

Very important to get out of the gates quickly this season. This will be a close game (as will a lot of games this year). The key will be special teams play.

Montreal must really reduce the number of penalties they take and capitalize on the PPs they get. Use the speed, keep firing the puck at Miller, and drive hard to the net.

Here's hoping for an opening night win for Carbo.

I'll predict a 4-3 Habs win

Goals by Latendresse, Kovalev, Johnson and Higgins

Go Habs Go

Scoreless first period
Afinogenov from Hect in the second
In the third.
Higgins scores from Koivu and Markov
Plekanec scores from Kovalev and Samsonov

Shots 31-23 for Buffalo.
Penalties 6 to Montreal and 3 to Buffalo. Buffalo goes 1/6 on the PP and Montreal goes 1/3.
That would be a typical game from last year

I have a feeling this year, we will be involved in more high scoring game

Did you guys notice we pretty much always outshot our opponenents during pre-season except for the first game against Boston. We also were the highest scoring team in pre-season and one of the worst defensively. I'm guessing we will see a difference in the Habs play this year compared to last year.

I never like to play vs the Sabres, especially in buffalo, they always find a way to beat us.

It won't be easy to win at Buffalo but it's not impossible to beat the Sabres. They're not a 120 point team.

Should be a good game tonight. Both teams have speed and very good goaltending. I see the habs winning 3-2 in OT. Markov will score the winning goal.

Last year between these two teams:

11-04-05 - Habs won 3-2 in Buffalo - Danis in goal
11-05-05 - Habs won 3-2 in Montreal - Theo in goal
11-25-05 - Buffalo won 3-1 in Buffalo - Danis in goal
12-01-05 - Buffalo won 3-2 in Montreal - Theo in goal
02-07-06 - Buffalo won 3-2 in OT in Montreal - Huet in goal
02-09-06 - Habs won 3-2 in Buffalo - Huet in goal
04-12-06 - Buffalo won 3-1 in Buffalo - Huet in goal
04-15-06 - Buffalo won 3-2 in Montreal - Aebischer in goal

For the year the Habs were 3-4-1 for a percentage of .438

Habs won the February 9th game in OT

Sabres tied it with under 30 seconds to play and Markov (I believe?) won it in OT

The Habs will finally win an opening night game in Buffalo by the score of 5-4 . On the other hand, the inability to win in Buffalo may raise its ugly head with a 4-1 win for the Sabres and their ugly jerseys .

Just goes to show how evenly matched our teams are. I expect another close one tonight.
