I think if it's his choice, since 19 is taken, 90 or 91 might be his number. Seen him wear that on some teams.

I'm guessing the 93 was cause he was born in 93... that seems to have become a trend since Crosby did it. Could just be a canadian thing but maybe not.

I don't think they'd give it to him even if Thornton was no longer with the team.

Are Czech players only allowed to wear 9? Are we gonna nickname Hertl Mach 9 as well?

He can play all forward spots. Naturally, a center. Played RW in the Czech league this year.

Not a requirement to shoot the same as your side. I'm a righty but prefer the left side wing or D...
Makes you open for one timers but you need to be able to pass on the back hand pretty much as good as your forehand when playing the off wing. I think Shanahan and Tkchuck played their off wing a lot... not positive though.

Euro's like playing the opposite side to how they shoot.

That is the most likely scenario. He won't get the ice time needed to develop if he goes straight to NHL. As good as the league he's been playing may be, he hasn't been hit by legit current NHL defensmen yet. Nothing says welcome to the NHL like getting Kronwalled...

DW has been saying this about Hertl since the draft...also said he was very close to NHL ready.

The org is extremely high on him.

From the little I've seen of him during WC, I was impressed at his positioning and board play. He needs to work with his skating and shot. Might have been nerves or something else that made him fan a couple of times on the puck, but I can understand why they are so high on him, he did look impressive most of the time when he was on the ice.

The Sharks aren't an org that rushes their prospects. If Hertl is able to make the NHL club it won't be as a 7 minute a night 4th liner, they'll put him in a spot where he'll find success (on a scoring 3rd line or maybe on Thornton's wing).

They'll be able to get a very good look at him between the development camp (and tournament) as well as training camp. If he doesn't look like he's ready they'll have him work on his game in the AHL.

I think Hertl will play on the big club next year. It actually wouldn't surprise me to see Havlat stick around so he can help Hertl transition.
I was thinking buy out Havlat (or trade him) then sign Jagr. And then...

Why? HE's playing well for Boston, played well for Philly and Dallas. Both Philly and Dallas raved about how he was with their young players. I see no reason to avoid him other than he's not really a fit on this team with THornton here already...
