Who starts in goal Friday night?

Want the answer do you? It's a four-letter word starting with A, ends in D and has an UL in the middle. For more info -- and Florida's new alternate captains, visit the blog at:

thanks for the support folks...

Good to see Gelinas will be wearing an 'A,' too.

Auld vs. Boston, Belfour vs. Atlanta should likely be the scenario, no reason to make Auld go back to back so soon while Belfour can go. Though I'm nervous about using Belfour against offense-heavy teams like Atlanta, it's just right that Auld should start game 1. Either Monday or some game later Belfour will have to start vs. Toronto and I hope it energizes him to be good against them, also vs. Dallas I recommend. Auld in Vancouver no doubt, the most looked forward to game of the year. I can't wait!

I'm just plain nervous about starting Belfour at all.

No secret that I'd like for Auld to get the majority of starts. But if we were judging based on training camp, Auld should get the start tomorrow anyway. Also, he should get the rubber match against Atlanta as well. I guess we'll see...

Glad to see Auld starting tonight. But that really isn't the question. The question is who starts on Saturday? Depending on Auld's performance tomorrow night I would like to see him go on Saturday as well and leave the Toronto game to Belfleur. If Auld has an easier game tonight I think we see him go again tomorrow night. Atlanta scares me and I want our best asset in net.

PS- Thank you so much Richards for this blog. I have been reading the Miami Herald for Panthers info every day since I can remember. But to have this behind the scenes, unofficial information info is amazing. I look forward to it everyday. Keep it up and I owe you a round when you come to Philly!

George... Now that the season is rolling around, are you going to continue to post here? I certainly hope so. It'd be great to have an inside voice concerning the inner-workings of the Panthers during the season.

Thanks for the nice words everyone. Here's my plan: I'm going to keep posting here -- mostly commenting on other's posts -- while trying to file at least 1 or 2 blog entries each day. This morning I've already thrown up two posts and I haven't even been to the skate yet. So, there's probably more coming.

As far as Saturday goes, I have a feeling if Auld plays well and doesn't face 45 shots tonight, he's playing in Atlanta. Eddie is set for Tuesday.

Is the blue mask that Auld has been wearing in preseason game his new mask or his vancouver mask? I can't tell if it's his old one or not. It does look kinda out of place ... hope he gets some nice gear.

Auld, like Eddie, has two masks -- red (home) and blue (away). the mask is cool, has the panther head on one side, a griffin on the otherside. why a griffin, george? gots to wait until I write about it in tomorrow's paper -- or until craig minervini explains it tonight during the game.

Stupid question, perhaps, from a non-hostile Lightning fan.

Why 4 alternate captains? Just curious, don't think I've ever heard of a team having more than 2.

We split them up, 2 wear the A for home games and 2 wear the A for away games. It was something they started last year and worked out well because we have so many younger players. We needed to spread the leadership around our more veteran players. The only real change is Gelinas who will get the A in place of the departed Sean Hill.
