I'd rather have Pronger handle this.

I'm pretty sure Panatch is worse for PCS than getting into a headbutting contest with a sidewalk.

This. I'd love Torts if we were in a race for the cup, but if we change coaches we need someone who will be good for our developing young guys. That being said, I don't think Lavi is very good with player development. Just gotta look at Couts.

I wouldn't throw out Torts on the basis that Schenn and Couturier would suffer offensively. First off, people here are obsessed with playing a defensive oriented system, and this was already with Couturier having a bad year. St. Louis, Lecavalier, Boyle, Modin, and some others flourished under him, and let not forget that he was only fired from the Lightning because Len Barrie didn't see him as one of his circus animals.

Here's the Rangers top 3 scorers each year under Tortorella:

2009-2010
-Gaborik 86PTS
-Prospal 58PTS
-Dubinsky 44PTS

2010-201
-Dubinsky 54PTS
-Gaborik 48PTS
-Callahan 48PTS

2011-2012
-Gaborik 76PTS
-Richards 66PTS
-Callahan 54PTS

2012-2013
-Stepan 44PTS
-Nash 42PTS
-Richards 34PTS

I don't think Tortorella really had the offensive talent with New York but the few talented ones produced under him. I wouldn't want him because he's the type of coach you bring in when you have an almost finished product but I don't buy that he's strictly a defensive coach.

He was also considered a PP guru during his assistant coaching days in Buffalo.

I would prefer to fire HOLMGREN and keep LAVIOLETTE.

Lavi is the best coach this team has had in years.
He is not perfect, but we could do a lot worse than Lavi.
He is in the top 5 of Flyers coaches all time.
Shero, Quinn, Kenan, Hitchcock and Laviolette.

Holmgren on the other hand is average at best GM.
Average drafts, Terrible cap Management, Acquires average
Goalies and Defenseman, Constant Rebuilding - Poor Planning.

Time for Snider to take charge of this situation.

If anything it's time for Ed to take a step back and leave the damn team alone, he's more at fault than Homer or Lavi.

Replace Lavi with Torts? No thanks. I'd rather have a calm coach back there that you don't see screaming at the players left and right. As a player that would grow on me fast. There are times to yell and times not to yell and Lavi and Torts just seem to be going off all the time.

Homer does deserve to go though because first he brings in players that do not fit into Lavi's system and then he keeps Lavi. It doesn't make sense.

You are right that our impatience and constant roster turnover
comes directly from our owner.

I am not opposed to building defense through the draft,
I would just hope for a more offensive minded group
with higher end talent.

I am just tired of the draft a center, trade for a mediocre defenseman
hope for the best, team building strategy.

My only hope is that with a new GM, the strategy might change.

I wasn't pitching for Torts over Lavy in that post. I was defending Torts from that abortion of an article.

Everybody is complaining about the D, wouldn't a coaching style like Torts help fix that?

That's my thought process anyways.

Either way; I'm tickled pink that Lavy figured out how to school Pittsburgh, but in doing that he forgot about the other teams in our division.

I stand by my first post. Two years was more than enough time to fix this issue.

He needs to go.
