I wonder why no one is blaming Smasonov. This ****er should be burned at stake based on his performance tonight when compared to his salary.

People *****ing about the refs is hilarious, considering they bought us a goal when they blew the whistle WAY too early in the 1st.

I can't wait to know the NHL explanation on that call. Since when you can reverse a penalty call ? First time I see that in 30 years.

The most surprising part? Niinima was not on the ice for any goals!

Souray and Rivet were atrocious but Plekanec probably played his worst game I've seen of him so far.....

I think we need to trade for Jussi Jokinen because we do not have one guy who has a prayer when it comes to the shootout, even Kovalev can't seem to hit the back of the net for all his fancy moves. Props to Huet though, after a mediocre exhibition season he proved he has what it takes to repeat last year's heroics.

Is it so nessesary to have someone to blame after a season opener? Or maybe a Habs fan cannot live without having someone to blame? This guy played his first competitive game under new coach, system and linemates. Maybe we'll wait at least 3 games before running him out of town ? God, beeing a Montreal fan sometimes makes you look so stupid.

Yeah, in a weird kinda way I expected it. Holding leads last year seemed all but impossible. Hopefully Carbs can nip it in the bud this year before too long.

what a game

Its always entertaining when both D are making a ton of mistakes like tonight

BTW, we must lead the league in most last minute goals allowed the last 3 years.

Hopefully some of those defensive lapses were due to some opening night rust.

Niinimaa didnt impress me. He did remind me alot of brisebois tonight.

What the hell did Samsonov do wrong? He played a good game and his line generated a lot of scoring chances but Miller made some good saves. They could have easily scored two goals.

Samsonov is not overpaid. Come on, it's been one game and your whining just for the fun of it.

A referee saw the spear and called it. Yes, play was stopped and everything. But Kevin Pollock, who with Dean Warren forms the Anti-Hab Referee Squad, reversed the first official's call, and said NO PENALTY.

Then Briere, the man who should have been in the showers, scored the rallying goal within 15 seconds.
Did they show this on RDS because TSN didn't show anything?

One important point.
Plek inability on the face-off department cost us a goal and didn`t help the line to get momentum.
He ended up with 5/17 (29%)
It may be real problem if he`s not getting better.

Well maybe he's right. Both shootout goals were high on Huet. I think the McGuire-is-out-to-get-us talk is a little overdone - far more so than McGuire repeating now and then that the book is out on Huet. The latter is tiresome, but the former is insecure and a bit of a persecution complex. Other than saying that shooters will watch video on Huet (kinda stating the obvious anyway, I should think), he had nothing but great things to say about Huet tonight. Words like "special" and "excellent" and commenting on how huge Huet came up in the high pressure 5 on 3 and 4 minute minor situatons were repeated far more than any suggestions that Huet is a one season fluke. Time for some people to give this a rest.

I was thinking this too, it must be true. The "Cardiac Kids" might be a catchy name and make for good hockey games, but I could seriously live with us playing boring hockey and holding on to our leads

I'm sorry to say it again, but look at the first pages of this thread I called the defeat tonight again, I was I think the only habs fan to call it. Yes we came close but it's damn hard to win in Buffalo.

And wow, Niinima had a few brain farts tonight. Samsonov showed us some flashes, Kovy aswell. What the heck was Komisarek thinking on the OT 3 vs 1 ? The pass was to Kovy not him!

Thank you.

So it means that Huet will need to play on his head every time 'cause it seems that a great game is not sufficient enough. Nobody said that he didn't play a good one. But when you have a terrible duo like Rivet and Souray were tonight, you need to be more than good to save your team and evidently he wasn't, and I'm not talking about the shootout.

While the book is suppose to be out on Huet, Briere beat him 5-hole and the 4th one he was lying on the ice, don't remember why he was in that position and the puck roll under him. So the game has even nothing to do with that stupid book but having to do key saves at end of the game. He stops Briere and we're celebrating our first win.

If we want our team to win and Souray and Rivet plays like that day in day out, a good game from Cristo won't be enough.
