We looked good. We competed with a healthy Buffalo and there ain't many Buffalo's in the league. If you were to ask me before the game if we'd come out of tonight with a point, I'd have said no. So net result is a plus, even though the end of the game sucked.

My reaction was that it was karma (though my brother pointed out that Montreal's D stopped playing when the whistle was blown.

Still, I'd love to see what happened there -- that was a spear, or at least a slash.

I thought Niinimaa was fairly strong, all things considered. He played in his first game, with a new team less than a week after being traded. He certainly didn't make any glaring mistakes, and was very good defensively on a few occasions (situations that could have led to trouble). He was certainly much stronger than Souray or Rivet tonight, both of whom made a terrible error in failing to shut down Briere after his faceoff win.

It may be real problem if he`s not getting better.
I wouldn't say it's a problem yet (come on, it's his first game centering the second line) but it is something that has to be worked on. Koivu and Begin were both excellent in the circle (which McGuire reiterated time and time again) so Plekanec has to try and step it up. Especially since his wingers are not the most defensive-minded players and not too good at recovering the puck.

No doubt about that.
Also, how many easy wins did we have last year ? Not much.

Rivet was no doubt the WORST player on the ice tonight. He gave the puck away time and time again, missed hits was slow getting to players was absolutely tap danced on. Sourray was not far behind...those 2 were clearly steps behind the Sabres forwards all night

And wow, Niinima had a few brain farts tonight. Samsonov showed us some flashes, Kovy aswell. What the heck was Komisarek thinking on the OT 3 vs 1 ? The pass was to Kovy not him!

Thank you.
You call everygame the same way. You're bound to get it right.

Heh I actually like McGuire- most of the time... but getting through one night without having to hear it wouldn't be so bad.

I'll describe the movement to you.

Briere came from behind, and used the blade of his stick to punch Bonk in the guts.

That's spearing.

On the bright side taking a point out of Buffalo on a Friday night is a good thing. On the down side it feels more like losing a point than gaining a point and this team is going to be tired tomorrow against the Leafs.

I don't want to read any whining about the refs. We lost because we can't hold a ******* lead in the final minute as usual. Also we can't win in a shootout either.

Let's go into Toronto and kick some ***.

P.S- Does anyone but the fanboys still think Latendresse is ahead of Perezhogin on the depth chart?

Send a message via MSN to Belarus Rocket
I just saw the third period, butOverall I tought this was a verry good game for Habs. The Koivu line was verry good and watch out for Higgins this year I think he will be real good.On the other side, the defense was BAD,(not to say Souray ).For the first game of the season I think we can be satisfied, this team will only get better pals don't be too negative tonight!!

I was about to post the same comment. People are upset and looking to vent and will vent on the player(s) they like the least whether or not that person played poorly or well.

Yeah, that's my thoughts too, I wouldn't say alot of scoring chances but some yeah and I was kinda impressed the way he was skating and covering the puck during the PP.. Also, that pass from Samsonov to Plekanec on a breakaway was awesome...
Anyway, some people are simply pissed off right now... We have to deal with it lol

The problem with Niniimaa is that while he was pretty good for me, it seems that his giveaways, like Brisebois, are so evident it's scary. He had 2 giveaways and both resulted in great scoring chances. He doesn't like to get challenged though, needs to move the puck faster.

Tighren up the D

Change the defenseive pairing to

markov -- rivet
komi----souray
dandy--niiminna

get the second line going and Bonk on the 3rd and we'll win a lot more games than we'll loose!

we played hard... 1 down 81 to go!

MY BELOVED HABS ARE BACK!!!

Yes, he has his annoyances, but overall I think he's one of the better ones out there. Sure beats dopes like Healy. There's a guy I'd love to hug and give my cold to.

Why must you turn everything into a conspiracy whenever the Habs lose?

Like there is a league wide anti-Hab idealogy running rampant through the ref ranks. . .
