Lacroix handled the defense. Rumors a while back were lightning were talking to ex NHL dman Ulf Samuelsson. BP has brought up André Tourigny often as a name to remember too, who ran the defense for Canada at this past WJC.

Sad to see Dan go, but its about time he gets a shot at running a club his way.

So I'm not really up on who would be a good candidate to replace Jean if he was let go. Goalie coaches is not something I usually pay a whole lot of attention to. Anybody got any suggestions on who they would like?

In terms of poaching, Bob Mason of the Wild, Ian Clark of the Blue Jackets, Mike Valley of Dallas, and Pete Peeters of Anaheim.

The Canadian national program just fired Ron Tugnutt a few hours ago.
http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...-goalie-coach/

Francois Allaire is still out there, but that's the school of goatlending that Frantz Jean subscribes to.

edit: Allaire update

Last one today, Patrick Roy is waiting for an answer from François Allaire to see if he'll accept to be his next goalie coach. #RDS
Jon Elkin is with St. Mike's, and his camp's website even mentions the more reactive butterfly technique.
http://www.elkingoaltending.com/about.html

I'd be remiss not to mention Dwayne Roloson of course. Given that he runs camps with Bob Mason, I can't help but think that he's thought well of.

My concern with Roloson is how advanced he is on the art of coaching itself. Being so recently out of the league is probably a good thing, but putting aside the good feelings that his hiring would bring, is he the best guy for the job?

Looking some more at guys that have been NHL goalie coaches, David Marcoux was with Calgary (2003-2009). His camp's alumni include Kiprusoff, James Reimer, and Cam Ward.
http://www2.dmsg.ca/index.php/about

from an HF article
Quote:
[Nashville Predators goalie coach Mitch] Korn continued. "David Marcoux in Calgary kept (Miikka) Kiprusoff going and it’s not only the physical stuff, it’s the mental stuff and with all due respect to Mike Keenan, he’s a hard guy to play for. And whoever the goalie goach was there with Kiprusoff had a lot of bridges to rebuild, possibly on a daily basis. And so I give him high marks."
http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...his_offseason/

Also put Andy Moog in there. I always hear his name thrown around when discussing possible goalie coaches.

Yzerman declined to say whether or not teams have asked for permission to hire Boucher. Said that was up to hiring team to reveal.
https://twitter.com/CraigCustance/st...97237319667714

This is basically the hockey equivalent of 'are you good enough for my daughter?'

btw, the reason permission is required is because Boucher still has a year left on his contract.

McKenzie said on twitter that Yzerman is searching for a veteran coach to serve as an assistant for Cooper. I wonder who that could be.

Pete Horachek? Just got let go by Nashville, but I'm biased as he used to be Solar Bears head coach. Reportedly interviewed for several head coaching jobs in the NHL.

I did some independent research. Based on Yzerman's demonstrated preferences, I found a short list of candidates that fit the organizational theme. A lot of differing backgrounds here, but I think they all seem like coaches who can step right in and bring the club to the next level under the same culture we've been preaching.

Someone who viewed my own LinkedIn profile in the past two weeks is in the sports profession, so 50/50 chance I'm on that list.

Bowness was most recently with Vancouver where the Vigneault coaching staff got fired.
