Anyone see Cheechoo put a hole in the boards?

In last night's game between San Jose and St. Louis, there was a really weird incident that caused about a 20 min delay. Cheechoo caught a rut or was tripped up and slid into the boards. His skate hit the board first and he cut a perfect rectangular shaped piece out of the boards. You could see right through it! It took a while to repair. It's definitely something I've never seen in all my years of watching hockey.

Add that to the glass stantion falling on the ice not once, not twice, but thrice during the Toronto-Ottawa opener at the ACC.

Some interesting occurences so far this young season.

Couldn't find a video, but here is a clip from TSN.

There was plenty of non-scoring action in the third period as well. Referee Rob Martell left the game after being hit in the left eye by one of Michalek's shots during a power play in the third period, and the game was significantly delayed moments later when Cheechoo crashed into the boards, putting a perfectly round hole in them.

I wonder if all the hockey writers gave Joe the credit for opening up the space for Cheechoo to put a hole in the board.

I saw it. The feed on Center Ice stayed with the broadcast for a while and the guy that works for the arena just goes out there and stares at it for a minute before speaking into his handset. It was classic. Cheechoo is lucky that it gave way, that could have really hurt.

They also played most of the 3rd with one ref as Mike Leggo went to the ER with a cut near his eye. The game clocked in at nearly 3 hours.

Yea that was wierd and really bad timing
13mins to go in the 3rd of a tied game, most of the delays ive seen were late in periods and they would just have intermission early,do the work and finish the period then start the new period

Only problem is, he can't do it in the playoffs when it really counts.
