don't be ridiculous. the 2067 1st rounder is untouchable.

I am good with my prominent post in the prior thread, a multiple trade, comprehensive scenario.

Trade top dollar where we have to, get top 2 picks overall.
In the process, flip MDZ for Siemens

Other deals, picking up multiple high quality picks to fill holes and create depth in short order.

Far more sensible than some nonsense about expecting MDZ to get more than he commands (like a top 3 pick overall), or other moves which are coke for pepsi, not really gaining.

And again, my scenario creates cap space = options for stop gap while waiting on Skjei, Noreau, Nieves, etc.

Too much hate bro.
too much hate.

I don't know if that will be enough. Might need to throw in Jason Wilson or Scott Stacjer.

Maybe even Marty Biron if Edmonton asks nicely.

They can have all our goalies if they want. They have to throw in Ben Eager though he has jam. And a 7th in 2025. This will be a successful 12 for 3 asset trade.

Right, OK.

If Edmonton really likes DZ enough to give the 7th overall pick, I say do it.

DZ was outplayed by every defenseman except for Eminger in the playoffs. His game has way too many holes that should have been corrected by his 4th season, but haven't been. I didn't see any improvement from last year. The prospect of drafting high-impact forward that will be home-grown for once is tempting. Maybe you can even move up depending on what the other teams ahead of you have in mind.

Overall, I'm just not a big fan of DZ's game. If you can draft Monahan/Nischushkin, you go for it.

I agree, for all of MDZ's faults he is still a top 4 defenseman who can score 40+ points. He is very underrated by our own fan base.

That being said, are there any NHL scoring talents available? I think MDZ is good and have a lot of potential to be even better, but in the right deal he is expendable.

However, I think it has to be for NHL ready scoring talent, not futures. Trade an established defenseman for futures and we're giving Hank more reason to doubt the team and leave.

How exactly is gutting our defense, trading away two of our core guys, one of whom is a team leader going to work? You live in fantasy land man. This isn't a video game.

If one of them gets traded, the other one won't. We're not trading both of them. Trade two integral pieces of the core, blowing up the team even further, and we are guaranteeing Hank walking.

Nichuschkin will play on an NHL team's top 6 next season unless the team that drafts him has really deep depth on the wings. He wouldn't void his KHL deal unless he has an agent telling him he can play in the NHL right out of the draft. I don't understand the hype about him going top 3, even 1st overall like I saw posted here earlier (wtf?). Jones, Mackinnon, and Drouin will go top 3, guaranteed.

The earliest I see him going is #5 to Carolina, which means that either Monahan or Lindholm will be available at 7. Nashville will take Barkov at 4.

I do like the Del Zotto for Burmistrov and the #13 idea. Take Pulock at #13. There's our right handed offensive defenseman prospect. He wouldn't help now though, ready in 1-2 years I think.
Would Winnepeg go for it though? Seems a little steep.

only on HF, do people (with a team trying to win now) come up with ideas to trade a Top D man with 2 years left on his deal for a "future", or a guy coming off a 40 pt + 36 performance just a season ago. SMFH

Chicago is so good because their bottom 6 are versatile and can be moved around if need be to get something going or in a pinch in case of injury; both Stallberg and Bickell are exactly what teams need in their bottom 6.

Key Word: RIGHT DEAL

If he brings in a big time top 6 fwd who can score ... yes Anything less NO.

It could be said, that all of their bottom six could be top six players on bad teams

Yup. Also mentioned they may also go for Streit or Yandle as a PMD.

I think it's a pipedream for Rangers fans to expect #7 for MDZ, when MacT publicly said he's looking for a C.

Exactly. Some posters seem to think we have to get rid of him no matter what. I hate to break it to you guys but a 22 yr old PMD defenseman who can score 40+ points and has the potential to get better is a pretty valuable player. Obviously he's had his Del Zaster moments but the truth is he can either stay and develop even further (perhaps under a new coach he'll do just that) or he will be a very valuable trade piece. He's not getting traded for no reason. He's underrated by most of the posters here and has more value than most here think.

Plus, we're not trading both him and Staal. That's why trading him might be risky. If Staal decides to go to Carolina, I want Del Zotto here. Most are penciling in Moore ahead of Del Zotto and while Moore is certainly good, he's no sure thing either.

I saw a interview with MacTavish from the scouting combine on TSN.ca. Mac said the Oilers will select BPA with the pick. Lowe is telling the media that the pick could be in play. When MacT got the Oilers GM job,he discussed looking to shake up the roster. Finishing out of the playoffs was no longer acceptable. MacTavish scouted the Rangers a lot last season. Especially around the trading deadline. Edmonton didn't have many pieces to sell. Then Edmonton added Scott Howson as their VP of Hockey Operations. He is a big DZ fan. Streit will command $5M plus in free agency. The Oilers coach knows him from Europe. Edmonton is also looking to hire an associate coach for the head coach. Why don't they just replace Krueger instead of bringing in his replacement and keeping Krueger around? Don Maloney wants a ton for Yandle. He wants a top center.

I don't normally agree with Bern and his trade thoughts, but I can see a scenario in which we deal both Staal and MDZ at the draft.

MDZ to Edm for the #7 and 3rd

Staal to CAR for the #5, Murphy and either Tlusty or McBain

with a defence that retains Girardi, McD, Moore and Stralman that's still a very decent top 4. We can get bottom pairing defenceman And if both McIlrath and Murphy are ready that's a our top 6 right there.

Plus now we get to significantly up grade the forward position with Nichushkin and Monahan

The Hawks traded Barker to Minny for Johnsson and Leddy. Kimmy suffered a concussion and never made any impact. Leddy is really good. The Rangers need a D like Leddy. He spent one year at Minnesota before turning pro.

Yeah, but Barker sucks and that is a trade comparable to the Gomez trade in terms of lopsidedness. I don't expect a trade like that to happen again for a long time. Barker is comparable to Bickel with more offense and even less defense. Don't know what the GM's see in him.
