Former Canadiens Thread

I know there will be many threads about this all along the season but I think we should have a one stop place to discuss our former Habs and how they are playing across the league.

Mike Ribeiro

Mike Ribeiro was traded to the Dallas Stars early in the 2006-2007 season along with a 6th round pick (in 2008) for defencemen Janne Niinima and a 5th round pick (in 2007).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Richard Zednik

Richard Zednik was traded to the Washington Capitals during the offseason for a 3rd round pick (in 2007).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jan Bulis

Jan Bulis signed with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2006 offseason after having a career year with Montreal the previous season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marcel Hossa

After having a great camp with the Montreal Canadiens, he was traded to the New York Rangers for Garth Murray last season.

http://www2.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=...ayerId=8468496

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jason Ward

He was not given a QO by Bob Gainey during the 2005 Offseason. He then signed with the New York Rangers were he had a career year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ratis Ivanans

http://www2.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=...ayerId=8469120

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Hainsey
He was claimed of waivers by the Columbus Bluejackets during the 2005-2006 season.

http://www2.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=...ayerId=8468493

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Francois Beauchemin

Francois Beauchemain got claimed off waivers last yera byt the Columbus Blue Jackets. He then got traded to Anaheim in a deal centered around Sergei Federov. He went on to have a great season with the Ducks fast becoming a fan favorite.

http://www2.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=...ayerId=8467400

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patrice Brisebois

His last contract year with the Habs was bought out during the 2005 offseason. He then went on to sign with the Colorado Avalanche.

You should change the game played for Julien, 1 gp doesn't equal to 1 win and 1 loss

Good job X-Bob. From now on any new threads about former guys should be deleted and use only in this one. Some like knowing wha's happening, some don't and those people won't be pissed off about the 75 new threads about former guys.

By the way.....

It's Bulis VS Theo tonight!!!! Who wins.....Will Rocket Bulis scores 4 against No Glove Theo????

There are some guys on this list I didn't wish to hear about again...

Jason Ward — The Habs realy drafted like **** during the 90's...

Hainsey — OK, maybe it was a mistake to waive him.

Beauchemin — Argh! Why in the world did we waive him!

Yup I found that quite interesting too! He is getting over 26 minutes in columbus. You know when your team is having defensive troubles when Hainsey is getting that much ice time!

Great idea for a thread.

Not only because I'm always interested to see how former players are doing, but if it serves its purpose it should clear a lot of clutter off the board, ie: There shouldn't be 4 threads when Ribeiro has his first multi-point game.

I cant believe we let Ward go. I just LOVE the guy. He played with intensity everygame and bring physical aspect to our team. He can score some (garbage, yeah, but still) goals and a very solid guy in his own zone. Pretty good guy on the PK too.

Probably the only move made by Gainey that I hate. We had the chance to replace Sundstrom by a better player 2 summers in a row and we fail (Ward, Laperierre).

And again now, I would gladly take Ward or Laperierre over Downey... even Murray !

Ward - Bégin - Laperierre =

Yeah this is a great topic, I'd like to see it stickied! I always follow these guys anyway out of pure curiosity but it's nice having it all centralized in one place.

Avs win 3-2

The great Theo won against the not-so great Rocket Bulis who had 0 shots on net, 2PM.

Theo stopped 26 out of the 28 shots received.

I've seen Zednik in the two Washington games, and boy am I glad he's not with us anymore. He was never passing and always causing giveaways. The old awful one hand on the stick Zednik.

He, Thomas Vokoun, played all of one period with the Habs. I think it was against the Philadelphia Flyers in a 9-5 drubbing in 1996-1997.

Mike Ribeiro

Richard Zednik

Jan Bulis

Arron Asham

Marcel Hossa

Jason Ward

Chad Kilger

Ron Hainsey

Stephane Robidas

Francois Beauchemin

Patrice Brisebois

Jose Theodore

Mathieu Garon

Hmmm..........not exactly an all star team there, now is it. I mean how many of those players couldn't be acquired for a 3rd/4th round draft pick????
