Anton Lander scored that one huge goal for Timra during his last season, did he not? Kid is a gamer. He is exactly the type of player we will need if we ever get to that point.

Looks they pretty much bailed Danis out tonight. Two wrist shots from the circles beat him clean high, good on the Barons!

I'd almost say that Mrazek bailed out Danis. Both keepers with some ugly goals.

That said - Go Barons! Would love to see that group in the finals.

He scored huge goals in the last game of his two last seasons. One to get into playoffs, one to avoid the relegation series.

I really hope they leave Lander down in the AHL for the next two seasons. Only call him up for injuries and let him take control of the barons in a top 6 role and let him be a leader. Give him an A next year and maybe the C the year after that if everything keeps progressing. Having regular season success and experiencing these playoff drives will be very valuable for the guys who will make it to the next level.

Having some patience and letting this guy mature in the AHL and I think we will develop an excellent bottom 6 forward in Lander. We don't need anymore youth on the Oil right now anyways and Lander seems to get lost in the shuffle up here.

Go Barons!

While I don't disagree that it would help his confidence, he isn't that far away from a full time NHL gig IMO. As a matter of fact, when you consider how many games he's already been with the big club, he'll most definitely have waiver eligibility soon.

Lander didn't look so out of place in the games he played with Edmonton this season. Having him score big goals and carry the farm on his back is just icing on the cake moving forward.

Only thing Lander needs to improve on his faceoff ability to become a solid bottom 6 NHL C. If he gets that down he'll have a long NHL career.
I can see him starting the next AHL season in AHL but dont expect him to be there for too long.

According to the highlights, Danis's goals allowed were way worse. 2 weak wristers and the other one he completely lost the puck and went to the wrong side of the net. He's going to need to play way better in game 7 if they want a chance to win.

Congrats to the Barons, hope they can find a way to win the series.

Yes he has looked solid defensively in the nhl in a 4th line role but I just don't think he will bring any offense in a bottom 6 role for us yet. He had a tough year this year with the injuries and being called up to sit in the press box but he only started producing for the barons late in the season and playoffs.

Let him grow and develop in a situation he is clearly getting comfortable in. In two years he will only be 24 and should be ready to make the impact we need from him. There is much more to Lander, don't try and let him figure out his place in the nhl in the shuffle of all the young guys already here. Let him be a leader on a good team and lead them on some playoff runs. He will still get called up due to injuries and then we can gauge where he is at. Imo, doing that will pay off a lot more in the future.

Damn it sounds like this is a hell of a game but I can't stick around to watch. Are there any working streams around so I can at least catch the first?

2-2 so far, but OKC, from my watch, is carrying the play. Powerplay coming up.

OKC is really outplaying them. Mrzaek is just a great goalie.

He's not much younger than that. Doug Sauter coached the CHL team here and wants to be involved any way he can with hockey in OKC. He's a knowledgeable hockey mind, but he definitely doesn't have a radio voice.

OKC is the better team at even strength. But they're playing with fire with this Gran Rapids PP. Don't know if Nelson wasn't pleased with his effort or just giving him a break, but Lander was taken off the PK and Arcobello slotted in for him.

Comes down to 20 min. Sure hope the Arcobello line gets going, 4th line has played great tonight.

I can't really hear the Grand Rapids guys, thankfully the OKC guy on the dual feed drowns them out mostly. He's actually really improving as an announcer, at the beginning of the year, he was a total hack. It was funny one night, because during his stations breaks, he didn't realize the AHL audio was still on and he had to explain to his producer (who sounded about 15) all the basic rules about hockey, it was pretty funny.
