A.Ward(groin strain),Kaspar close to returning

Quote:
now you have defenseman Aaron Ward, who sat out today’s practice because of a tweak in the same area.

Ward said he first felt something in the second period in Philadelphia on Saturday, but that some treatment from the Rangers’ trainers got him through the game. Now the question is whether he’ll be ready for tomorrow night’s rematch with the Flyers at the Garden. As expected, Tom Renney said they’ll re-evaluate Ward in the morning; and Ward, for his part, said if it were up to him, he’d play

Kasparaitis was paired with Tyutin in practice today in Ward's absence

Atleast these "tweakings"/Injury's are happening early on in the season rather than last season which they seemed to snow ball through the lockerroom. I wouldnt expect Ward to be out next game, but thats sheer assumption and speculation.

So let the speculation begin - who's the taxi D-man, Rachunek or Pock?

I personally would say ixnay on the achunekRay at this point.

I'd keep Rachunek in. Before recieving that hit that hurt him a bit in the last game, i felt that he played a pretty good game. i still think the guy can be one our better D-men this year. And forget about the crap in the past.

Rachunek has probably been the best Rangers D in the whole 2 games that have been played this year...

He's not getting sat. It will likely be Pock, even though that blow for him since he's played well

If they both can't go, who goes? Dale?

Pair Kasper with Tyutin if Wards groin is a problem, but I wouldn't sit Pock or Rachunek if all are healthy.

Rachunek has to stay. He's been very consistant with his positioning and that will not go unnoticed by Renny. It will be rewarded

I'm pretty sure Kaspar is ready because he said it himself before game 1, it was just a matter of whether Renney thought he was ready.

Too early in the season to be shooting guys up for individual games - tell him to have a seat and bring up Branks for a game.
