I'd take him in the 7th if that's the case. Send him to the Q team nearest to Montreal(drummondville? shawinigan?) and have him train with his brother at the Brassard facility when we're at home and his Q team isn't playing.
The Habs can't just 'send' a player to any Q team they want. The Q team needs to draft him in the Euro draft and own his rights.
Habs need to value heart and leadership more in the draft. This has been our Achilles heel in the past. We have overvalued the Mr. November types in past drafts. You don't want to be built on players who "hit the wall" 2/3 thru the season. Lazar landslide over Gauthier

I see Lazar as a future captain in the NHL and the type of core player that wins you a Stanley Cup. The reality is, I see him going in or near the top ten.
It would be a huge turn of events if Lazar provided more offense at the NHl level than Brown, Brown was the much better offensive player to this point in both careers, compare the numbers.
Brown had a ton more assists and led his team by almost 20 points his darft year, no comparison.
Come on WTK, you won't be satisfied unless we somehow snag Nathan, we all know it. :laugh
I just don't want Fucale in the 1st.
I prefer for us to stay away from Mantha or Gauthier at 25, but whatever, if they pick them, they better give me some goodies in the 2nd round.
Wouldn't be terribly thrilled to go after a D-man in the 1st not named McCoshen or Mueller (who I doubt falls).
Really though, I am far more excited about the talent in the 2nd round. Picks 34-36 will be the more exciting ones to me. I hope we get a dropper at 25 or just reach for someone like Burakowsky or McCarron.
I think people here will be surprised when/if Carrier slips into round 3 though. Horrible team + Team far away that probably wasn't scouted a whole lot + Did not play after mid-December + late birthday = very likely slider.
I agree with some others, I wouldn't want Gauthier at 25, nor Mantha. The subsequent 3 picks are pretty great, and I think it's so good that it's very unlikely to happen. Of course, we could always look for a better 'mix' of players, but in pure quality, well, those last 3 picks are quality . But it always depends on who we pass on to select them.
25th Gauthier - Possible faller, wouldn't be shocked if he's drafted in early 20s
34th Poirier - Possible riser, should be drafted earlier (per Woodlief)
36th Dauphin - Should be drafted in that vicinity (30-42)
55th Carrier - Should be drafted earlier
Lazar may match Brown as a goal scorer but as a playmaker, bRown is above average while Lazar is well below average.
That's not what I'm saying, he was ranked as a clear-cut top 5 pick.
And let's not kid ourselves, this is not 2003 redux, it's maybe the deepest draft since 2003. But I strongly doubt we'll see the amount of franchise players we had 10 years ago. Drafts like 2003 happen once per generation (1979 being the only comparison).
