Interesting things from draft...

Keith Tkachuk was drafted 1/19 overall in 1990. Right after him at 20th place was drafted... Martin Brodeur

In the same draft (year 1990) Blues drafted Craig Johnson (2nd round/ 33rd overall). Guess who was the next pick... Doug Weight (2nd round/ 34th overall) picked by Rangers.

1992 draft. In second round 38th overall Blues picked Igor Korolev. 40th overall Canucks picked Peca...

1993 draft. Blues pick Mayers 89th overall. Chicago picks Daze 90th overall...
Later this draft Blues had more success than other teams:
193 C Eric Boguniecki
219 R Mike Grier
275 D Christer Olsson -who brought us Demitra

1994 draft. Blues draft Stephane Roy68th overall. 4 picks later Quebec drafts Drury...

Hope I'll search for more interesting facts if my time allows...

I am sorry, but I am not sure what is interesting about the facts you stated. All it really shows, is that players get drafted, sometimes in a later round, and they may or may not play for St. Louis. Really what is so interesting?

Sure you do.

You posted pretty much the same thing the other day.

And nothing has changed since then... you still could do the exact same thing for every single team in the league.

I laugh when I see posts like this...every team has passed on future HOF'ers in the early rounds of the draft.

In 1990 Peter Bondra was taken with the the 156th pick...over 50 players taken before him never played an NHL game.

In 1991 Steve Konowalchuk was taken with the 58th pick...of the 5 guys taken before him 3 never played in the NHL, 1 played 8 games and didn't score a point, and the other was Chris Osgood.

In 1992 12 goaltenders were taken before Nikolai Khabibulin at pick 204. More then half of those 12 never played in the NHL.

In 1993 Pavol Demitra was the 227th pick. Of the 100 players taken before him only 8 played more then 20 NHL games.

I could go on and on, but do I really need to?

The book I was using only goes up to the 2000-01 season for stats because that's what was handy, so I'm sure that some players listed have "never played" may have played some since then, but you get the idea.

A check of a newer source (after all, I want to be fair here) shows all the info is still correct except that 17 players drafted between picks #128 and #227 in 1993 have played more then 20 games.

I guess we have a 2-2 tie in this thread whether the topic is interesting or stupid.

I may be stupid but I still find it interesting.

Also, I can't wait to post 5 years from now to show all the NHL teams that passed over Belle, Zakharov, Bolduc and Stempniak in the 2003 draft.

Yhe case is (as for any other thread): if someone finds the thread interesting and has some opinion to post - then please, you are welcome. If not - the just scip the thread.
I find interesting history of draft. Someone does not, but that's not a reason to post messages like the thread is not interesting (for example, I don't find interesting all that buzz around BJ and his play - and I do not post my opinion on that subject; even more - I don't post a message stating that the thread is not interesting).

Sure they do, but I agree that it's interesting to look back and see what could have been. No one is able to say what someone is going to pan out to be.... maybe john edwards... but no one in this board. Yes. That's a joke.

I find it very interesting to think what could have been, and what was. Anyone that wants to post things like this about notable picks... it doesn't matter if they were by the blues or not. If the Rangers picked someone awful right before Detroit picked someone that turned out to be great, It's interesting to me. Post Away! That's what these boards are for. You can't make all the people happy all of the time...

It seems you can't ever make Dragonwyck happy.... jk.
