1-5-04 GDT Preds vs Wings

Wings: 1st in the Central. 1st overall in the Western Conference, 55 points
Preds: 3rd in the Central. 7th overall in the Western Conference, 42 points

So far the Preds have owned the Wings. No thats not a typo. The Preds are 3-0 vs the Wings this year.

Wings 5 (Yzerman, Homer, Shanny, Hull, Woolley)

Preds 2 (Legwand, Hartnell)

I know one of these days we're going to figure these guys out...I hope it's tonight.

No predictions on a score, but I have a feeling that some emotions are going to be on overdrive for some reason...I don't know why. I have a feeling there are going to be some tempers shown.

I hope that Brett gets out of his goal scoring slump, and that Pasha has a good night.

GO WINGS!!!!!

2-1 Detroit.

Nashville will play their typical in your face game but Hartnell isn't around to score that big goal for them, which he always seems to do against Detroit.

It's going to be a snoozer though. Lots of icings and clutching and grabbing from both sides. Similar to last game.

I hate to say it, but the law of averages has to kill us here. Last year I was amazed at us beating Dallas all 6 times, and I would have never thought we would be at 3-0 with you this season. I think it will be fairly close though, not 5-2.

Energy

If Detroit can't get up for this game after being beaten three times in a row, then they have a big problem. They need to come out early and take it to the net. Instead of trying to create the perfect play, they should just crash the net. In order to beat Nashville, you have to play hard and ugly. This isn't a knock on Nashville, it's just a post showing that being fancy against defensive teams doesn't work.

The best way to defeat a defensive team is to outhussle them for loose pucks, and to throw everything you can at the net to create rebouns. Even the best defensive teams can't clear every deflection or cover every man in front. Given enough chances there will be breakdowns.

Didn't we tie Dallas every time? And sweep St. Louis?

I want the Wings to beat the Preds in the worst way. Here's hoping the strong play at home continues and they can finally breakthrough against Nashville tonight. I'll say 3-1 Wings (I hope).

If the Preds win here my jaw won't leave the floor. We played great against NJ and that type of effort and execution will give us a great shot at victory tonight. Here's hoping we don't slip back into our old road woes again.

The magnificent Draper scored a pretty goal, then Jason Wooley got a nice one.

2 - 0 wings at the end of the first.
Now for the start of the 2nd.

maltby and walker have had a few more scraps between them than maltby and toots. toots seems to enjoy hitting fischer.

Way to win the game and avenge the past 3 losses against the Preds so far... 6-0 ouch!

Draper continues to amaze me this season...

And credit to Cujo for yet another great game - this time with a shutout!

Yeah yeah...enough giving credit to cujo. I've been wanting to play the game "Cujo woulda let that in" with my friends for some time, but now I can't because he's actually performing well. So damn well that I'm out one drinking game.

Btw, Draper for Prime Minister of the U.K.

That was very satisfying. I didn't expect the Preds to roll over and take it like they did. That was an un-Nashville-like effort from them...quite a surprise. Great to see Cujo keep on chuggin' along. I hope Lewis doesn't hand Hasek back his job...I'd make him earn it back.

You can bet the job won't be handed back to him on a silver platter. I wonder if he's having second thoughts yet?

By the by, did anyone see NHL tonight last night? The guys on there said if they had their way, Pavel and Mathieu Schneider would be starters at the All-Star game. How cool is that? I think that says a lot about how well Mathieu has fit in. I wonder how many of the gang who said this was a bad trade are now eating a bit of crow?
