If that's the case, then yeah, I think Sather thinks Tippett will become available. I do know Tippett's unsure of whether he stays or goes because of the ownership issues. Maybe it turns out.

True, though didn't they interview AV? If anything, I'm surprised Gordon's not in the picture since Sather's buddy Brian Burke hired him as an assistant in Toronto.

I don't think so. Sather will look to hire a coach before June 30th. Let the new coach start to put the imprint on his team. I wouldn't mind Tippett for the record. Made a Coyotes team even more bereft of offense than the Rangers look halfway decent.

No one knows who they will interview. Gordon just hasn't been mentioned by the media.

Yeah, same. But I don't know if he'd have gotten the job. I feel like he should be working with young team like the Oilers to work kinks out. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want an experienced coach

I don't want any of Ruff/AV/Bylsma (if he gets fired)

Maybe Boucher. And no Maurice or Wilson either.

Tippett's my number 1 choice.

Tippett is my #1, then Boucher, then AV. The others can go take a hike.

So we're basically in agreement here. My exact thoughts about the remaining candidates.

Ok I've finally come to my senses. We need to hire AV as head coach. He's used to coaching in pressure markets, and has actually coached very well leading the Canucks to presidents trophies. Yeah yeah, its that other trophy that matters most but he would have a stanley cup if Luongo could have stopped a beach ball in the finals. He's proven he can consistently win at how the game is played NOW unlike Tortorella who refused to adapt to today's game. If not AV then Eakins but Eakins is more risky.

Eakins is off the market.

This is a good argument for AV. The thing is with him though is the stigma that he couldn't coach some really good talent to win this year or last.

His team also scored 4 goals in 7 games in the SCF, and have scored way under 2GPG in the playoffs since then. Oh, and they play in a cream puff division. AND we don't have anyone on the level of the Sedins.

Also powerful counter-argument. these are all my worries and gripes about AV.

Apologies I'm slow on the beat. I'm at work right now didnt know Eonton hired him. Edmonton was by far his best fit though so good for him. Even with that Stigma, he really should have a cup. They lost that series almost soley because of Louongo. There's not much else AV could have done, unless people were expecting him to be Lou's personal psychologist between games.

OT but KingWantsCup, do you by any chance remember going to a hockey store in NJ for a Q/A session with Lundqvist there?

Regardless he took the B's to 7 games and that team is kind of emerging as the powerhouse of the NHL.
