Is it true those beams on top of the canopy were built to support a potential upper deck? The area around the stadium seems small enough as it is.

Yup. Would expect that they can't expand the deck on the bottom of the picture in order to keep the view on the Big O as per municipal rules or something like that

The only regulation is that the "road"(now just the sightline) from the O to the athletes village remain intact. that's why the old stands and new have a gap in between. They can make the stands as big as they want, if they want to kill the view its not a problem for the city.

Are you sure about the beams? I thought I knew everything about the stadium, yet i've never heard that.

Those beams seem to be way to thin for any sort of large deck. If you look at whats supporting the upper deck at Molson, its much more significant.

Not saying they can't expand up. I expect they would want to do so at some point, but it'll be a pretty significant undertaking when they do.

Personally I would prefer if they demolished and remade the North stands first. Since there is way more room behind it. They could have a large multi-level stand like BMO field in its place, plus have the players come out from the middle instead of from the corner(through crowds!) like they do now..

Let's worry about filling that stadium before thinking about expanding it

Shut up with your rationality, If I want to dream of a super stadium for Canada's 2026 World Cup bid no one can stop me!

You're not the only naive person here. I'm actually hoping that by 2026 the Olympic Stadium will have a new retractable roof

Fixed that for you

I do agree with the Gap, it does look a bit amateurish. Also the West stand looks too different from the others. IIRC its the only part of the stadium that wasn't renovated and its pretty obvious. It is a beautiful stadium. Just seems uneven, a sort of Work in Progress. Also remember seeing a virtual video showing the possibility of having a second deck in SS. Not sure if its my imagination or just me though

Especially when you compare the SS to some European Stadiums that have the same capacity. Such as the Madjeski Stadium , Falmer Stadium or even Loftus Road . I'm not sure what the problem is. Is it the angle of inclination of the stands that makes SS look small?

Nope. 11 Available, 11 in use. 0 Available. But isn't Camara on the verge of getting his citizenship, which would exempt him from that list?

What kind of player is he? Would he fill a need for the Impact? Is he significantly better than what we have? Does he have any connection with some of our italians?

Edit : Sorry for the rudeness of this post and thanks for educating me

See for yourself Played with Alessandro @ Lazio for a few years. If Schalli is heard-headed and goes back to the 4-1-4-1, Stanko could play in the middle of those 4

EDIT: Still can't get my head around these two. Absolute screamers.

Thanks. I remember those two. That's why the name sounded familiar to me.

So you didn't answer my question : do you think he brings anything we don't already have? :sarcasm

He already looks good in black and blue. Please don't go to TO.

Edit : Capitaine Gionta : No rush our next game is only next week

Stankovic makes sense for us. Over 35 yrs old injury prone from Serie A

We need more of an Ambrosini type but Stankovic is the better player for sure. But again, I don't think we're getting any significant player during summer other than depth. The team chemistry is too good now.

Bernier has been a takeover machine this season, so do we really NEED an Ambrosini more than a Stankovic? Personally I don't think so. I'd still be happy with either.

ugh, Godspeed, I just came back from my first game of the year, (Balzac fields in Brossard) Breathing pond scum 10 minutes in, and now my legs feel like lead.

I was easily the least talented player, but i've watched more soccer this past year than I have in my life, and so my soccer intelligence if WAYY higher.

Absolutely true, but if you can get Ambro, you can move Bernier up a line, but still ask him to have a very high defensive workrate, which would give the team a new dimension. Two players capable of picking up the ball deep, and in Bernier's case, let him do what he enjoys; roaming free offensively and let Ambro sit back while the offense is pushing up w/Bernier supporting it
