OT: Plane crash in NYC

They are saying that Corey Lidle might've been in the plane or the pilot of the plane. It was registered to him.

Still learning all this from the TV.

Thats amazing, I just heard that. At least that would take out any terror threat.

Can this week get worse for the Yankees? RIP if this is true. I really hope it is not.

OT: Yankee fans

ABC confirming that the plane that crashed in the building in NYC was registered to Cory Lidel (sp). NBC confirming that Lidel was aboard and "are in the process of notifying family member."

I'm not a Yankee fan, but this is certainly very sad news.

Sorry for the other thread, obviously missed this one. NBC is confirming that Lidle was aboard, and "NYPD are in the process of notifying family members." As I type, ESPN is reporting the same, and in fact saying he is dead. ABC now reporting his death as well. What a shame.

This is crazy...I had just heard Cory Lidle on the FAN get into a heated argument with Mike and Chris only two days ago, and now to hear that he died in that plane crash. Terrible news.

I'm watching Mike and Chris right now and they were just talking about the argument. They look stunned and Chris feels terrible because he gave Lidle a hard time.

They are also suggesting that game 1 of the NLCS should be cancelled.

I think it's because the player who died is a Yankee who played in New York, and the Mets also play in New York. Same sport, same city, plus the sensitive history that New York has in terms of plane crashes. I can't imagine how upsetting and frightening it must have been for people who live in Manhattan to see that happen again.

Their argument is that nobody in this area is thinking about playing baseball right now. The crash happened essentially accross the street from Shea (a bit of an exaggeration but it was close). And the guy plays in NYC. All those things combined they say should be enough. I'm not so sure I agree.

Of course that's probably all irrelevant as it appears the weather will cancel the game for them.

He owned his own plane and took off from teteboro just like Munson did. Just terrible.

I dont know whats more shocking the crocodile hunter or this, circumstances are both eerie and ironic in a way.

Boy i hate when things like this happens, makes you think - he took off abotu an hour ago and now boom, gone.

RIP for the 4...

Man this is horrible. It's horrible when anyone dies in a situation like this, but sheesh...I just saw him pitch on my birthday on October 1st. I immediately thought of Thurman Munson.
