Dallas-Ottawa

To Dallas: Turris, Wiercioch, Noesen
To Ottawa: Jamie Benn

How attached are the stars to Benn? Sound fair? Would Ottawa thrown in a 2nd (next year) or 3rd round pick, or maybe even a 1st?

I don't think either team does this. Ottawa is team built on depth and those are three very good and important pieces to our future. would rather target someone like Loui Eriksson as he would be cheaper.

For Dallas they don't get enough star talent back IMO to warrant trading a 23 year old PWF.

The only way Eriksson is moved is by a huge overpayment so with that said he will probably cost more than Benn. Losing Eriksson puts a HUGE hole in our two way play and dramatically brings our scoring down.

Benn is the LEAST likely member of the Stars to be traded. He is the piece that the Stars are building upon for the future.

The OP + a 2nd rounder might be enough for Eriksson.

For Benn, swap Turris with Zibanejad and Wiercioch with Cowen/Ceci. That's what Benn means to our team. He's our soon to be captain, and leader of the team.

Hmmm, I would consider that trade after swapping Turris for Zibanejad and Wierc for Ceci. Zibanejad is still mostly potential whereas Turris is coming into his own. It would also suck to lose Ceci but you don't get something for nothing.

As a Sens fan I'd do this.

I like Turris, but Benn would be a nice fit here. Second line duties behind Spezza. I think we have the forward prospect depth to give up Noesen and Wiercioch is sweet but you gotta give to get.

TBH as an OTT fan I'd probably be fine with either deal (assuming it's Ceci and not Cowen).

I love the players we'd be giving up, but Benn would be an immediate improvement and trading Zib/Wier/Ceci wouldn't really set us back all that far, neither would Turris/Wier/Noesen.

I'm not a Stars fan, but I think you're still undervaluing Benn significantly. Zibanejad, Wiercioch, and Cowen/Ceci are all nice young pieces, but Benn is extremely important to the Stars right now. He's further along in his development than any of those Senators players and he is necessary for bringing tangible hope to a fan base following a team going through a restructuring (I wouldn't say it's a full rebuilding).

Then maybe I overvalued the Sens players.

My point with that post was that it would take an overpayment of epic proportions to make Dallas think about trading Benn. He's our new Modano. The face of the franchise, and the one player even people who don't care about hockey, know. He's not going anywhere.

Benn + Daley for Zibanejad + Wiercioch +Ceci + 1st
or
Eriksson for Silfverberg + Ceci + 1st

As much as i love Zibanejad i would love Benn more than him in Ottawa

If I were Dallas, I wouldn't accept anything less than Karlsson for Benn. What possible motivation can the Stars have to trade their franchise player?

Honestly, you don't see that many Karlsson, Giroux, Doughty, Pietro, Couture proposals, why do we have so many Benn ones?

To Dallas:
Kyle Turris
Cody Ceci
Jean-Gabriel Pageau
2nd round pick

To Ottawa:
Jamie Benn
Philip Larsen

I find this fair.

Turris is more valuable than Zibanejad currently, so that's fine. I think you're undervaluing him. Turris put up the same numbers as Eriksson this year while being 23, forced into 1st line responsibilities while not being ready for them, and playing very well defensively. Then he went on to be (arguably) our best forward in the playoffs. Why would we put together a package that big with Turris to get Eriksson?

I would do our 1st and Cowen (maybe a little more, Da Costa?) for Eriksson though.

If there's anything I learned from that one time I made a Dallas-Ottawa proposal, it's that we need to stop making Dallas-Ottawa proposals.

Ottawa CANNOT afford to let Turris go without another second line centre coming in

He's not going anywhere after how good he was in the playoffs

The value is fair, needs are not met however

Fair value for Karlsson would be Benn + Eriksson and i would still not do that. Dallas traded most of there veterans they are rebuilding they need quantity over quality right now.You could argue that they got Gonchar but he was brought in to teach there young Defence.
