Worst case scenario for the Oilers, I bet they try to trade down in this situation.

However, the Edmonton Oilers select Center Elias Lindholm from Brynas - SEL. Not the size of player they were hoping for. But is a Center which Edmonton desperately needs. And is BPA.

If Basalt hasn't checked in by tomorrow morning, this next pick (Buffalo's) is all yours.

EDIT: Sorry, but I need to get this thing moving and I hate having consensus selections. Truck is going to take the pick.

Hank asked me to step in for the Buffalo pick:

With the 8th pick of the 1st round the Buffalo Bills select Hunter Shinkaruk.

They loaded up on big centres last year and they aren't shy about taking undersized wingers. Nurse was under definite consideration here (especially after the way Meyers played last year) but the skill on the wing is difficult for them to pass up.

Truck please PM me next time

With the 9th overall pick, the New Jersey Devils are pleased to select Bo Horvat of the London Knights (OHL)

BO HORVAT

New Jersey needs some size and skilled forwards, with proper coaching I feel Bo will be able to fit in quite nicely.

Basalt13 you have a PM , Dallas is on the clock.

I did not know.

Will do.

Aside:

In the real draft, I expect we will have seen another D man go by now.

Not sure I really like Horvat at #9, but I have to say he really does seem like a Devils type of player.

He would fit, but I see Lindholm as even more Devilish.

Considering they won't have a 1st next year, I could see them trading up to nab a player they really really like. Will be interesting to watch.

A "kid" at 6'0" 200+ lbs who is an active two way forward is very attractive to a team like the Devils.

Besides its either draft this year, draft next year in round 1. They can't have both

Good. I really hope that this guy is off the board by the time the Jets pick so they don't get really stupid and take the guy.

But if he is still there, think of the trade offers will have for the pick.

Conventional wisdom has the Flyers taking a defenseman with their pick, but in the end I feel Domi is BPA and a good fit for the organization.

Marriage?! PFFT, that's not a good excuse at least tell us you passed out drunk last night therefore missed your pick.

I gotta say I hope you're wrong about that last one Hank. I would love to see Max Domi in a Jets jersey. While small the kid plays like he is 7' tall throwing his body around, plus he can score.

With the 12th overall pick the Phoenix Coyotes Quebec Nordiques welcome...

Anthony Mantha of Val-d'Or (QMJHL)

to the franchise, congratulations Anthony.

The team needs firepower, playing a defensive game works (and is VERY boring to watch if you are a fan of the Yotes), but you still need goal(s) to win.

Ooh, Mantha at #12. That's probably the first "reach" pick of this mock, but a very believable one.

Nice pick ajmidd12, I really like Mantha's game.
