I hope it's true, he deserves it. Of course this is going to raise his price even further...that bridge contract was Bergevin's biggest mistake so far.

The best part is the anger it's causing, I saw some Bruins fan on twitter angry that Subban doesn't deserve it because his defensive zone coverage isn't good enough..and then said Letang or Keith should have won it instead.

People wanted PK signed next year precisely because we could have signed him at a cheaper price than what we'll have to either this summer or the next.
I don't think anybody expected PK to actually win the Norris as early as this year, but plenty of people already viewed him as one of the best young Dman in the NHL that would keep progressing into one of the best overall. That's why they wanted him locked up asap to a long term.

We missed on an opportunity to sign our best player to a much cheaper deal.

Why? I keep asking and nobody answers me. Why is Suter better than PK. I would really like to know. People think PK is only there because of points, but as far as I know, he was also are best D in our zone also. I haven't watched Suter much this year but I would really like to know what makes him so much better than PK.

Suter was given a crazy difficult role, he does deserve credit for that..but he wasn't particularly dominant, and Minnesota barely made the playoffs. If anything Subban played a significantly easier role than he did the year before, but he was also dominant. I do think difficulty of role is important, but it's not everything either.

Erik Karlsson ran into a burning building and saved 32 puppies, he deserves every ANEIC he gets!

Shouldn't you wait for the next deal to be signed before you declare this true.

Pk is the new #1 defenceman and will be paid like one. Like Price is paid as a #1 goalie.

It won't fluctuate by millions of dollars because of this season.

Karlsson was playing injured so maybe he WALKED real fast into that building, let go a slapshot that went way over and to the left of where he wanted it to go and then maybe decided to be useful and saved the puppies but no; he didnt run.

Sens fans always threw the argument that EK is a Norris Trophy winner and PK wasn't. Well I guess if this is true Sens fans will use the "Yeah he won but it was in a shortened season which God was injured by Matt Cooke and that's the only reason why PK won"..

Congrats PK if true..

Congrats

Even crazier to think he earned it starting the season late.

$60 million over 8 years is the only downside to this. Although, we do have plenty of cap space the summer of 2014 when MB needs to sign him

Either way, well deserved, PK is a stud

Well, that's the problem. The agent's motivation is not always the same as the player's motivation. Maybe PK just want a fair deal, long term, without compromising the team cap wise. IIRC, MaxPax's agent was not happy with the contract either, said he could have had more etc.

All the guys paid north of 7-8M end up playing with scrubs because the team is squeezed against the cap.

Overly simplified example: I'd rather have 6M and play with a guy making 3-4M, rather than having 8-9M playing with a scrub barely worth league minimum.

The extra 2M per year, mean that I'll retire with what, 100M in my bank account and maybe a cup ring? I'd rather retire with 80M in my bank account but having a shot at the cup year in, year out.

Wouldn't be surprised if some players actually think like this, while the agents just brainwash them because they need their cut.

Well deserved! PK is clearly our franchise player! We are so lucky to have him.

About the money, i dont care, id rather pay him huge money then see free loaders made 3-6M and suck. MB will clean house hopefully.

Nothing new when there's a Subban or Habs thread posted there. All the Hab haters come out and get to take shots at the Habs with some ridiculous comments and it's seemingly okay to do so in these threads.

WHAT?!

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSOME! Congrats PK!

Oh, the main board is going to love this. How many classless Subbans does this get?

He is now a classless, diving, locker room cancer Norris winner. It'll be great fun rubbing that last one into the faces of all his hecklers.

After all the crap PK has had to put up with from hockey purists, media, and even some of his own teammates, it's nice to see him finally getting recognized for his high level of play.

He got in a scuffle with a teammate in practice - probably should be playing in the ECHL for those antics.

I just pray MTL wins a cup soon and PK is the Conn Smythe winner, the internet will implode on itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Philly and Toronto offer-sheeted Subban if they get a chance. If Subban wants the money he'll get, one way or another.

His critics will demand that an asterisk be placed next to the Cup and Conn Smythe for that year.

I hope they announce it and show a picture of a smiling PK Subban on the jumboscreen just to temporarily throw the Bruins off their game.
