I experienced the same thing when I started playing this SPring after not playing for 10 years. I am in good physical shape, but I am technically bad at soccer. However, my soccer IQ is quite high for my level of play. Watching tons of game during the last year certainly helped.

I guess we'll both get better technically the more we play. Soccer is a fun game to play, physical and mental at the same time.

I play soccer weekly every summer, May/June to October-ish. I was out of the country till now so I started late.

I've been doing it for maybe 4 years now, my technical skill has improved, but very slowly. I still can't kick a ball right. (despite being in house league from age 6 until 16!)

But decision making wise I am much better, I see open spaces better, I know when to give and go, I tend to cover better.

Unfortunately I have a minor blood disorder and my cardo has always been weak. I'm a cheetah for 5-10 mins, then I'm dead for a good 30.

Same thing for hockey, I can't maintain a high rate without crashing for a long time.

Some people develop that technical excellence where they don't move much, they can deke, pass and move with minimal effort, I really don't have that yet.

Also when playing 5v5 or 6v6 on a small field, there is less room to play a position, you really have to contribute all the time. It's why I prefer it over big field games, but its definitely a workout.

My buddies just joined a league and asked me to play since I played for 13 years. I had to say no, since I'm already paying for flag football and hockey. Now they want me to have me on the team free of charge and be their goalie

I've played goalie like 3 times in my soccer career. Once when I was like 8 years old lol and twice during a tournament when our goalie couldn't make it on a certain day, I was like 16. At least it's supposed to be a low intermediate level of play

Edit:

It will come with time. I started playing hockey last year for the 1st time in my life, save for the few odd times I would play at the park during winter, so my skating was pretty bad. Through 18 games, I finished the season with 1G and 2A...all came in the same game lol. Although I was a bad skater, I wasn't that much of a liability, because I always knew where to position myself. So far this season, everything's better. Skating still needs work, but I'm much better than last year. My passing and vision of the ice has improved a ton. Last season, I was just trying to get rid of the puck as soon as I got it and I would turn it over half the time. Through 8 games this season, I'm at 4G and 3A, although I haven't gotten anything in my last 2 games.

To sum it up though, it'll come with time.

anyone else here play total campo? I'm playing this year in the C2 division but sprained my ankle pretty bad two weeks ago and will probably miss at least one/two more weeks.

Props to you I've always wanted to join a hockey league but my skating is awful (I skated for the first time when I was 13). I always tell myself that every winter I'm gonna go to the rink and practice my skating but I never do it lol...

Looks like we're the frontrunners in landing Stankovic according to goal.com

Voted for Perkins, Ferrari, Bernier, Mapp and Di Vaio lol.

Regarding Stankovic, exact same rumors like last year. Maybe even the article was copied and pasted. But would be a great signing if true.

Current team + injury returns + Stankovic would be flat out ridiculous.

Camara-Nesta-Ferrari-Brovsky
Mapp-Bernier-Stankovic-Romero
----Paponi-Di Vaio------

+ Felipe, Wenger, Rivas, Pisanu and Iapichino lol.

Di Vaio is a no-brainer. Would like to see Ferrari and Perkins but I can see the case for other CBs and Rimando.

Now that I'm playing, I really wished my parents had signed me up when I was a kid, although I loved playing soccer and football.

If enough people are interested, I'd be down!

Edit: Regarding the all-stars, although I voted for all of them, I almost wish none of them make it since we're going to have a busy schedule. They need all the rest they can get

Having Stankovic and Rivas, Paponi and Arnaud back would make it possible to play two good and almost totally different teams for the MLS and the CONCACAF.

----------Perkins-------------
Camara-Nesta-Ferrari-Brovsky
Mapp-Bernier-Stankovic-Romero
------Paponi -Di Vaio----------

-----------Bush--------------
Brovsky-Camara-Rivas-Iapichino
Pisanu-Arnaud-Felipe-Smith
----Wenger-Nyassi/Messoudi--

And you can use Ouimette, Lefèvre and Tissot sporadically to give Camara and Brovsky a break. Those are just examples, you can come up with different mix of these players if you want the two squads to be more equal but it just shows that we'd have the depth to be competitive in both tournament.

Boom.

@KurtLarSUN:
The Canadian Soccer Association Board has moved to immediately suspend the Quebec Soccer Federation, according to a release.
