Horcoff and Moreau put themselves ahead of this team . Their statemnets have proven this . Horcoff took the money and failed Moreau had no problems hurting the team with bad penalties and laughed about it Smid is exact opposite of those 2. What did Moreau or Horcoff ever sacrafice for this team?I don't think Hall woud be a bad choice I think Smid would be better and would let Hall concentrate on Hockey alone.

Both of those guys were just at the top of the dung pile when they got named and were well past their primes. It is time for this team to showcase it's talent to the league with a captain who is already the leader and has many prime years ahead if him.

Hall has to be the guy. It will serve notice to anyone in the league who may have had doubts, that these are not kids anymore but big time NHL players. No different than Landeskog or Tavares (soon i expect now that Streit is gone) or Stamkos or Crosby when they got named early on. It's just time to showcase the now and the possible.

Sorry, kinda homerish but whatevs.

Hall is the face of the franchise, so I think you gotta go with him.

I'm not sure as everyone else is about having Eberle keep his A though.

Agreed that Smid should have a letter.

Same here. I give them to Gags and Ladi first

I voted Hall. Historically though I could careless. If we went with Hall as the C and Gagner/Smid with A's would it be any different than if we went with 3 A's?

Hall showed this year that he didn't need a C on his sweater to take this team on his back.

Well, based on what the new coach likes, it's hard to see anyone other than Hall getting the C.

Wow. I knew coming in that Hall would likely get the most of the votes...but this landslide shocks me.

PS: I think for me I just have a hard time picturing Hall as a captain. He leads on the ice with his effort no question but he doesn't strike me as a guy that will rally the troops. For me that would be Gagner - my vote for the next Captain.

Because as fans, we have no idea what the dressing room is like, so play on the ice will always the determining factor in who people want to see as captain.

It could very well be Gagner, but it would be nice as fans to see the captaincy on someone who leads on the ice again, instead of one of the complimentary players where you have to take the media's word that he's a great captain off the ice all the time.

as an outsider, i honestly think Nuge is better choice than Hall

i see Nuge as the Oilers cornerstone

Hall is the better player, but Nuge will ultimately be the Oilers most important for years to come

i wouldn't advise them to give it to him next season, but the summer of 2014

anyway, im really jealous of the Oilers

Nuge is easily the least comfortable and forthright of the Oiler kids in the spotlight, as well as being the one that needs the most time to fully mature and develop.

I won't say never, but it's unlikely he'll ever be the captain of the Oilers.

Eakins seems like he's the type of coach that would suit up and play. Give him the C as well.

Yeah...Nuge would be a very odd choice. He might turn out to be the most talented but in terms of leadership Hall, Eberle, Smid would all be better choices.

things come with age

teams groom captains

like the Islanders have been grooming Tavares for the past 4 season

Tavares will probably be named Captain before next seasons

Nuge is nothing like Tavares, isn't being groomed like Tavares, and isn't even really tracking to be as good a player as Tavares.

Hall is an "A type" personality.

Nuge is not.

Nuge may very well be a more important player, but I don't think he's the captain personality.

I sort of agree, Nuge will be the most important mainly because he will be a center and has very high potential.

But Hall takes over games with playing style. Its like how Datsyuk isnt the captain but is the most important (language plays a factor too)

It seems the rest of the kids get a push from Hall too

Disagree, just as good rookie season, but had injury concerns in his second season. Event though his stat line was underwhelming, his awareness was impressive, ill wait till end of next year to judge.

Tough to defend him with stats, but I got a weird feeling watching Nuge that hell win serious hardware in the future
