please rank these prospects based on offensive potential:
also who would be the safest picks and who would you personally take?
I haven't seen nor know much about many of these players, so I don't feel qualified to rank them.
However, two players I have seen and do know about is R. J. Umberger and Keith Ballard. Umberger was sensational at OSU last season. Lots of offensive potential, but as far as I know he has yet to come to terms with Vancouver (who hold his rights).
As for Ballard, he's one of the best defencemen currently playing in the NCAA. When Minnesota lost Paul Martin to the New Jersey Devils, Ballard step in to fill the void that Martin left and quite nicely I might add. He's looking much more confident (for a lack of better term) than last year and he's become the Gophers' "Mr. Dependable" on the blueline. He's got great offensive upside and brings solid defence and toughness to the table as well.
