I would. Not sure about Peter Chiarelli and Garth Snow though. Can always re-up Ference at a lower cap hit than Boychuk. Can we expand it to include Chris Kelly? Would save Boston 4.3m if they can get Boychuk and Kelly off the books. Allows them to keep Ference and pick up a first. And, would be getting closer to have enough cap space to keep Tuukka and Horton.

There are some pretty good power plays and offensive teams in your new division. Pittsburgh, Philly and Washington. Kelly could probably really help you against them.

No need for Kelly. Forwards weren't the issue for our PK, more so defense and netminding.

Yes. I think Boston takes that and resigns Ference.

I am not a big Boychuk fan... but I personally would keep him and let Ference walk unless an offer like this came along. Boychuk is signed and sometimes it's just easy to hang onto the people you have signed.

Kelly isn't going anywhere. He is part of Chiarellis plan with the depth down the middle.
If any team would take Peverley without giving salary back, he is gone. Gimme a third round pick and I'll run home. Peverley sucked this year too btw

I would add something to the first to get Boychuk and Peverley. They'd be great fits here.

I don't think the Oil can afford to move any centers. The only reason we would need Peverly is because we are so weak at center. I'd counter with Hartikainen and a 2nd. Harti is more NHL ready than Lander, and plays a more physical game.

My guess is that if they were to move Peverley it would be a cost cutting move that would allow a rookie to play.

So I am guessing that they would want prospect/ pick in return.

I think only Peverley will go (either via trade or buyout). Horton & Rask re-sign, and the Bruins have about 2 million to sign a backup tender and a 3rd line right wing.

Wait out the league buyouts, or see what you have from within.

My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Milan Lucic ($6.000m) / David Krejci ($5.250m) / Nathan Horton ($5.250m)
Brad Marchand ($4.500m) / Patrice Bergeron ($5.000m) / Tyler Seguin ($5.750m)
Carl Soderberg ($1.008m) / Chris Kelly ($3.000m) / Jared Knight ($0.870m)
Daniel Paille ($1.300m) / Gregory Campbell ($1.600m) / Shawn Thornton ($1.100m)
DEFENSEMEN
Zdeno Chara ($6.917m) / Johnny Boychuk ($3.367m)
Dennis Seidenberg ($3.250m) / Dougie Hamilton ($1.494m)
Torey Krug ($1.704m) / Adam McQuaid ($1.567m)
Matt Bartkowski ($0.650m) /
GOALTENDERS
Tuukka Rask ($5.500m)
Niklas Svedberg ($1.000m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,076,667; BONUSES: $1,822,500
CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $45,833

We'll need to at least carry a 13th forward.

Boychuk will not be traded unless a better dman is on the table. Peverley/Kelly (maybe both) off the books, way before him.

Ference is as good as gone, if chiarelli is smart. Krug and even Bartkowski have proven to be NHL ready

You're correct, at least I pray that you are. Boychuk is too valuable for us to move, even with the postseason performances from Krug and Bartkowski. The defense is too small without Boychuk and he's been such a clutch performer in the playoffs. He's just plain steady.

I hope that we can move Peverley and Kelly out instead. I would much rather take a chance on a 3rd line of Soderberg / Spooner / Knight or something like that than see our D without Boychuk.

Value wise, I think Peverley is worth a mid round pick and a low end prospect, and I could see Kelly getting bought out. Problem is just finding a team to bite on Peverley without insisting that salary comes back the other way.

What would you guys like to see for Peverley and the rights to Ference?

I'd be happy with a second. maybe a third and a sixth or something along those lines works as well.

if Ference walks....

Z-Boychuk
Seidenberg-Hamilton
Bartkowski/Krug-McQuaid

Hamilton/Krug/Bartkowski would not make up half our top 6 if Ference walks.

I think Ference is gone, but if a hometown discount is on the table, would certainly be a smart move having him around. I don't know about Peverley, because yes, he was bad this year, but I would ask for something like a 2nd + 4th/5th and no money back.
