Leafs-Islanders

- Jake Gardiner
- 24th Overall

- Ryan Strome
-Griffin Reinhart
-Rick DiPietro
- 15 Overall

Why the Leafs do this?
They add another young center with huge potential to go along with Kadri. Strome and Kadri down the middle will give the leafs a great 1-2 punch down the middle for a long time. The leafs also add a potential first pairing shutdown dman, who can play with Rielly in the future. The leafs move forward with a core of 2 centers( Kadri and Strome), a PWF winger (JVR), a sniper/game breaker(Kessel), a first pairing PPQB(Rielly), and a Shutdown first pairing dman(Reinhart). This will allow the leafs to contend for a while with a young core.

Why the Islanders do This?
They add a potential 1st pairing PPQB in Jake Gardiner. Gardiner fits in great the young dmen that the Islanders already have. Gardiner can step in and play right away and take Streit's spot. The islanders also get rid of Rick Dipietro's terrible contract, allowing them to spend some money in free agency, or pick up a new goalie.

NYI isn't that desperate to get rid of Rick.

Note to the rest of the NHL and HF posters:

Garth Snow, LAST NIGHT, said the Friedman column was COMPLETELY UNTRUE.

The Isles don't NEED to do anything with DP. Give up the fantasy, pie-in-the-sky offers already.

Wang's net worth, according to Forbes, is nearly $900 million. The buyout goes forward unless Wang wants to give DP one more year in the minors to get his game back.

Get over it already!!!

NYI will surely have to add. Toronto laughs at the concept of giving up Gardiner unless Tavares is coming back. Even then, it's close.

Are you seriously equating Tavares and Gardiner??

If so, another example of how not all Canadians know their hockey . . .
