Just so it's clear, because I know I come off as anti-Malkin: I'm not.
Like you would say, BOTH Crosby and Malkin are guilty of the same thing in this situation. They are both the best player in the league and BOTH are comfortable in their currenXt situation.
But part of that isn't their fault. There is a natural arrogance that comes with being an athlete. They KNOW they are the 2-best players in the world. They are taught, from like age 4, that the coach is right, don't question the coach, go out and play.
So when they fail, they believe it's on them, because they know that if they play to the best of their abilities, they are above everyone else on the ice.
Okay....so why did Lundqvist call out Torts?
A factor is age....honestly neither Crosby nor Malkin are mature enough to lead the team emotionally in the playoffs.
The proof is in how quickly they unravel and lose composure.
