I agree. But I can see one of the many teams looking to get "bigger" swallowing hard while signing Bickell to a huge contract.

Bickell reminds me of ward a couple seasons ago. He has a great playoffs and gets paid more than he is worth and doesn't live up to expectations. I could see that happening with bickell

With, or instead of, Couturier on the Flyers? Or are you moving either of these centres to wing?

Buyout briere and maybe Bryz.

Resign Gagne, Hall, Gus

Trade Meszaros for whatever

Draft BPA which will hopefully be a franchise type defenseman

Sign Streit and possibly trade Read + 2014 first+ for Ryan

Move schenn to Girouxs wing

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds/Ryan
Hartnell-Couts-Voracek
Gagne-Laughton-Simmonds/Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo
Rosehill

Timonen-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Gus-Grossmann
Gervais

Mason
Bryz/UFA

Just keep it simple for one offseason.

Bickell isn't going to do what a lot of people think he will. He's playing over his head this playoffs. Not worth the money when we already have Simmonds and Hartnell. I'd pass on him.

Why not look into a deal for Brandon Gromley that is centered around Matt Read. Phoenix seems like an ideal trading partner with their depth on the blue line. Read, while I really like his game, is someone unlikely to be resigned with everyone else needing a new contract in the next year or two. It's better to get rid of someone a year early then a year late. Gromley's abilities are exactly what we are looking for in a defenseman, he just hasn't done it on the big stage yet. However if he was one of our prospects there would be a certain calmness with regards to our future blueline with him and Schenn. I'm not sure what we would have to add to make it happen maybe something like a 3rd or maybe a Cousins but it seems like a smarter use of our assets as oppose to Courtier being moved for fill in the blank.

Zubrus is listed as a RW for New Jersey, and only took 28 faceoffs in 22 games this past season. I would gladly have him on the Flyers on a short term deal.

The obvious answer?

A cost-conscious, floor-spending team like PHX is unlikely to give up a premium asset on an ELC for a guy with one year until UFA...

A 3rd wouldn't be nearly enough to get them to bite.

I wouldn't trade read straight up let alone adding anything for gormley or rundblad. I'd rather have a proven 25 goal scorer that can play any position well, than a defenseman who hasn't even cracked an nhl lineup or one that can't stick in the NHL.

Duh me! I had it in my head that Zubrus was a C. Yeah, depending on salary / cap, Zubrus would be a good two-way forward.

Some sites list him as a Center, some as a RW. He had a wrist injury this season, so maybe that was why his faceoff totals were so low. The previous three years he was taking around 400 faceoffs a season.

I'd try this:
Flyers get Jagr back (or Zubrus failing that)

Hartnell Giroux Jagr
Schenn Couturier Vora
Simmonds Laughton Gagne
Rinaldo Hall Talbot

Draft Risto
Trade Read and a 3rd for Bernier and the rights to Martinez
Dump Briere and Bryz

Kimmo Schenn
Martinez Grossman
Gus Risto

Mason Bernier

Jagr or Iginla on a 2-year-deal (3.00m for Jagr or 4.00m for Iginla) to play on Giroux's wing would be an ideal situation.

If we trade Read for Bernier, I'd be down to re-sign Gagne as well.

Two years is too long for Jagr.

I love the guy, but no, keep Jagroff this team. His ice-time needs to be given to our young players

There's three players out there I hope they say no to with regards to free agency. As much as he was a good guy here the first time around, I hope they say no to Jagr. Great locker room guy, but it's pretty clear he's near the end of the line. No sense spending $3.5+ million or more that he'll cost just so that he'll appear in a limited role.

Next guy I hope they say no to is Jarome Iginla. The Flyers don't need another 35+ contract on the books and during the Boston series, he began to show his age.

The last guy I hope they say no to is Brendan Morrow. I've just never been a fan of his game and you know some GM out there is going to give him a ridiculous amount of money that he just isn't worth.

Honorable mention also goes to Ryan Clowe, who really fell off the face of the earth this past year and it seems that he's begun his decline.

I'd be okay with a 2-3 year deal with Iginla if it isn't too much. Completely agree on the other 3 though.

Iginla is interested in winning a cup. Flyers wouldn't be top of the list. They need to have a strong season this year to show this year was an injury anomaly. However, money talks.

harts 4.75 G 3.75 Vora 4.25
Schenn 900 Coots 925 Simmonds 3.975
Read 900 laughton 1.1 Gagne 2.5
Talbot 1.75 Hall 800 McGinn 775
Rinaldo 750

Kimmo 6 Luke 3.6
Streit 5 Coburn 4.5
Gus 1 Gross 3.5
Mez 4

Bernier 3
Mason 1.5

This total comes in around 59.3m...5m to spend plus the 4m from mez cuz hes prolly getting traded if not he shouldn't get hurt be the 7th dman lol

Offersheet Bernier...theirs no way LA matches and they will just takes the picks

Sign Streit to around 5m im guessing

Sign Gagne to around 2.5m

Sign hall or good 4th line faceoff guy and good PKer

and I would look into getting another top 6 forward..Ryan would be nice but not at the price it will cost. anybody have thoughts on Micheal Ryder??I think Clowe would be great in Philly just not sure its worth what he is going to get paid.

oh ya bye bye danny B and Bryz

could have a lineup like

Ryder G Vora
Harts Schenn Clowe
Read Coots Simmer
Talbot Laughton Gagne
Rinaldo Hall McGinn

I'd offersheet Bernier at 3.4m. That's just into the 1st and a 3rd range. I'd offer a 2nd and 3rd first, but I don't think that'd do it.

I think anything in the 2nd round range, LA matches.

A 1st and 3rd in 2014 wouldn't be so bad.

I'd rather trade for him and go from there. Offer sheeting is nice... til you remember you have to give up picks.

I'd rather not give up Read for him unless LA adds honestly.

I'd also like not to offersheet him though. We have good standing with LA, and it'd be nice to keep that.

Only havinga 2nd round pick in the first four rounds when the draft is in Philly would be kind if a shame.

Doesn't mean we couldn't trade for a first towards the draft to give the fans a show.
