I this was 2 years ago would people want to trade a boatload to draft RNH
?
I think this is because of what people SEE in the players.

Not because they're touted as 1st overall picks.

Not to be mean about this, but try and catch some video before you decide if you don't or do want to get rid of the picks.

I have seen Mackinnon a handful of times, I'm not saying I'm correct but I would give up our top prospect and a solid player with no hesitation. He has that game changing factor with his speed and his powerful skating along with high skill at top end speed.

The times I saw Nuge, he showed great vision but his "powerfulness" in his game was lacking. He was very "finesse" in the way he played the game.

I don't think there's anything wrong with trading Ryan Miller in a realistic deal for number one overall. MacKinnon would be a great addition. Pushes Hodgson back to line two. Trading Myers also should be available for the pick. Why they would want Grigorenko makes no sense to me.

Exactly right. I would think they would want Armia, Foligno etc. more than Grigorenko. They're stacked down the middle. If Colorado really wanted a Center they would just draft Mackinnon and be done with it.

you have a strong opinion regarding a player you admittedly know nothing about, and seem intent on ignoring the history of #1 pick Centers.

carry on

The player is irrelevant really.

This is simply about no desire to put that many eggs in one basket.

He doesn't have a strong opinion... he flat out asked if MacKinnon is comparable to RNH in value. His opinion is that it's not worth what's being talked about to get a player of RNH's value, which I think most of us agree with because he wasn't an overwhelming 1st overall.

Terrible. But it'll be three posts at the most before someone says how stupid anyone is that isn't for overpaying to move up and that Vanek sucks. A 23 year old top 20 scoring center and an elite goal scorer to move up 12 spots. Nah. Instead of putting Vanek in every proposal (where the end game is to acquire someone we pray will be as good as Vanek..Someday)why not try to re-sign him and stay put at 8 and 16. Can't wait for the draft to be over with, the Grigs,Hodgson,Myers,Vanek, 8,16,Taro Tsujimito + rights to Artem Kriuikov for #1 are ridiculous.

8 and Myers to Oilers for 7.
7 and Grigs to Calgary for 6.
6 and Armia, Sekera to Carolina for 5.
5 and Vanek to Nashville for 4.
4 and Miller to TBL for 3.
3 and Hodgson to Florida for 2.
2 and Girgensons, Foligno, Enroth to Colorado for 1.

This allows us to keep #16, too!

I don't think it costs near as much as what is being proposed, we have the ammo that if Darcy Regier want's to get up to #4 he should be able to get it done at a reasonable price point, Nashville is not rebuilding and needs to add some talent to their prospect pool, with this being a very deep draft they may prefer to get 2 high level prospects over one, a Shinkaruk/Lazar combo to a Barkov would likely make them think real hard.

#8
Tyler Ennis
#52

or

#8
#16
Drew Stafford (25% retained)

#4

#4
Joel Armia
Sekera

#1

Tavares was a better prospect

I would agree that MacKinnon is the best since JT.

1 year of Mlller.

1 year of Vanek.

Grigorenko - potentially a #1 but a huge bust factor.

Sekera - the only long-term sure thing in the group.

Pick 8

Pick 16

Pick 52

For a potential franchise center, with higher upside than Grigorenko, leadership, with upside in the Stamkos/Tavares range.

I'd trade that entire package for Tavares or Stamkos. You have to take chances. I'd rather take that chance with MacKinnon than Grigorenko, Miller, Vanek, and whoever the players are at 8, 16, and 52.

Right. Let's not make a trade for a player you've never seen.
