Wasn't Skinner recently untouchable? Some of these offers seem very weak yet Canes fans don't mind them.

Gio and 28 for Skinner would help both teams I think.

Yeah, these are some pretty weak offers.

As a Rangers fan, I'd definitely do Staal and Boyle for Skinner and Mcbain.

That was early last offseason when our only other top 6 forwards were E. Staal, and a declining Ruutu and Jokinen.

Since adding Semin, J. Staal, and the emergence of Jiri Tlusty things have changed. Skinner is still a great player but his concussions and his lack of chemistry with our other top 6 linemates are a cause for concern in the mind of most Canes fans. We would rather move his contract if it would return a solid top 4 (hopefully top pairing) defenseman because that would fix our greatest deficiency while also giving us a little more cap room in the future (also a potential problem). In reality, I don't see him being moved for various reasons, but I do think it would benefit our team .

How does a rookie drop down J.Skinner by default after getting drafted? I don't understand at all.

Sure, CAR might have other reasons (like injury history) to trade Skinner, but I don't understand how this would be the reason to.

A team should never place such pressure on a rookie that just got drafted.

Top heavy for payroll. With our #5 pick we should have a great player.

So looking at the top 6, Skinner and Ruutu are the 2 that could be moved, Ruutu just had 2 surgeries and a NMC.

So to cut salary and add a top 4 D Skinner is the odd man out.

Skinner had no chemistry with Jordan.

You're not going to offer to buyout Skinner for the 5th overall?

So far Skinner and McBain for Marc Staal and Boyle looks the best to me.

Some of these proposals won't fly with GMJR. It doesn't matter how badly he wants the Staals in Carolina, he'll command a top pairing defenseman of similar age to our superstar winger. Think somewhere along the lines of Doughty or Pietrangelo.

Why not just use a compliance on ruutu?

While I do like Skinner, the dudes got some problems, particularly staying healthy. Injury prone.

Even if he has a high cap hit, I don't see why trading your 21 year old who has the most offensive potential on your team for the offers in this thread.

This thread is about Jeff Skinner. There is no superstar winger being discussed.

Pretty sure Ruutu would be on the third line. A top 6 of the Staals, Skinner, Semin, Tlusty and Nichushkin and the Canes are set there for a while.
