Winnipeg - Detroit

To Detroit
F Alex Burmistrov
D Dustin Byfuglien

To Winnipeg
D Brendan Smith
F Johan Franzen
F Tomas Jurco
Rights to V.Filppula

Winnipeg gets our LHD of the near future and a 2nd line winger to play opposite Kane, as well as a good young wing prospect that we do not have in the system.

Detroit gets mini Datsyuk to play with Helm and form a sick shutdown tandem or play with Datsyuk and learn from his superior. Also add a huge presence on the back end that they haven't had since Lidstrom/Rafalski.

Pass as a Jets fan. The real value there is Smith (Franzen practically has negative value at this point) and I'm not high on Jurco.

Not worth Buff and Burmistrov especially if we're trading them low. Could get much better elsewhere.

Rights to Brunner instead of Filppula?

Franzen's salary term is insane.

No thanks from this Jets fan. I fell we could get more value somewhere else. Although Burmistrov would be a great fit in Detroit. From previous threads involving burmi to Det, neither fan base has been able to agree on somthing that could work for both. Some Jets fans way over value Burmi, as well as some Wings fan completely undervalue him.

"Also adds a huge presence on the back end"

But it's an easy no for me. It's an overpayment for those players. Smith played as our #3 this year, he played the 3rd hardest minutes on the team, & while it wasn't a great year he really found his offensive stride in the playoffs. The organization is very high on him and view him as a potential #2. Jurco also had a rough 1st year in the AHL but has had a great playoff run & is really showing off his true potential.

From a Wings perspective it looks like this imo,

Smith+Jurco+Rights to Filppula =<Buff
Franzen>>Burmistrov

While I like Byfuglien on my fantasy team I don't want him near the Wings in real life. He's only average at best defensively & I don't know how he would fit in with the Leaders on the team. Datsyuk & Zetterberg are 2 of the most dedicated guys when it comes to stay in shape. I just can't see Buff coming in & not getting/staying in shape going over well with the Leaders in the room, especially when Babcock is your coach. Byfuglien is also likely to find himself in the doghouse for his work ethic/defensive zone play.

Burmistrov I don't want. I don't think he'll be anything more then a Filppula, the normal Filppula not the 11-12 version, & that's not worth that much. Add to it that we have Andersson/Jarnkrok/Sheahan coming who could fill in for Helm at the 3C hole we don't have to worry about our bottom 6 centers. Burmistrov has actually regressed offensively and he was worse at ES this year then he was last year & even his rookie year, IIRC?.

No thanks. Franzen may have a contract longer than I'd like, but he's good for 25-30 goals and 50-60 points yearly, and his cap hit is acceptable. Jurco is one of the team's best prospects, and Smith still has a lot of potential.

And in return for them, we'd get a guy who bombed in the AHL this season and a defenseman who sucks at defense and can't keep his weight under control. No thanks.

No way would Babcock use Buff on defense. He'd be used as Holmstrom was.

No from me, I like Jurco too much.

Yeah Buff would be our new Homer, Pretty much have to admit that no Goaltender would see past him.

No thanks, pretty clear over the last couple days we have much different opinions on Burmistrov and that as usual on HFboards we view our prospects differently than other teams. The important part would be at least publicly so do Holland and Babcock a part of where Wings fans take their cue in my opinion.

Smith still has tremendous value to the organization. Tatar and Jurco have more value to the fans than they do the organization, although both Holland and Babcock have been talking up Jurco for the last month. Think they are pretty happy he wasn't shipped with Sheahan and a second for JayBo, I know I am.

Why would Detroit give up that much for a guy who hasn't proven he can score against grown men yet and a guy who's rumored to be tipping the scales at 300 lbs a month after the season? The way Jurco is playing right now makes it even crazier.

Todd Bertuzzi was most effective when he played at around 245. Buff I think would be perfect anywhere between 230/260.

At this point I'd rather keep Buff and shove it in other fans faces when he goes on to win the Norris or something.
