Agreed, particularly because I'm fairly confident we can get bridge contracts out of Schenn and Couturier.

Yeah, Giroux will get a payday, but his cap hit is already 3.75m. Another 3.00-4.00 on top of that isn't going to cripple our ability.

Keeping Schenn and Couturier at under 3.00m each will be the big issue.

Bridge contracts could make it easier to handle as long as we don't throw down for 4 years on Streit. 3 years makes it the perfect length for some 2-year bridge deals.

No... I just wanted to know if Frank was a part of the interview as was posted... No apologies necessary; just correct names so I know who I can look to in the future for heads up info... and who I can trust today.

CBC saying he is looking for 6 million per year. We will see. Hopefully it isn't that high. There was also a report from a Toronto Marlies writer that he will sign for 4.5 per year.

I just want to say that I really detest the 35+ Rule... and it was so easy to correct this past CBA LockOut, if the NHLPA would have kept their eyes on the big picture, and not been so greedy in the short-range... and it would have accomplished the same problem correction, and better... Have all 35+ players' contracts count against the Cap on a cash basis, OR, have them sign one year contracts only... Everything else could be as below 35+ Players, with retirements and other situations. As it stands the 35+ contracts cripple teams... and the only purpose of the Rule was to prevent long escalated contracts that make the AAV lower... I don't believe the even really addressed it at all during the CBA negotiations... Insane!!!!

Why on earth would the NHLPA have wanted that?

I'm taking everything with a grain of salt at this point until the deal is signed. I've seen a wide variety of years and money being thrown out there.

I think this deal gets done soon so we know shorty.

I'm happy with this. Hopefully that means we DON'T trade Coots for Buff, Edler or Yandle now.

It's hard to know, so we'll see. Streit's comments make it seem like he's very happy to have been acquired by the Flyers and his agent is already on it. He clearly knows and respects the team and its talent and wants to be part of it. I have a hard time thinking he'll hold out for so much money/term that the Flyers balk.

I come in peace!

He could very well be looking for 6 million per season, he wanted 5.5 from the Isles and they said no and I can't blame them, he isn't worth 5 mil a season.

So if Streit signs, what would you do with the PP? Let him take Kimmo's spot on 1st and let Kimmo and Gus handle the 2nd unit would be my choice.

"If its not broke then don't fix it".

Leave Kimmo on the first unit and put Streit on the second unit for the start. Switch it up if needed later in the season.

I don't know if I would want to lose the chemstry between Giroux, Voracek and timonen on that first unit. But the second unit would definitely be gus and whichever of the other two that isnt on the first unit

I think it will take 5.5 for 4 years to get this done. Streit holds all the cards. Some team out there will give him this deal, and he knows it. If the Flyers want him, they'll need to pay. I like getting Streit, but I'm not a fan of the length of that contract with someone who is 35 years old. However, I feel like Streit is more worth that type of money than Carle.

Well... not being far sighted, they wouldn't... but it would be better for the NHL as a whole because the teams wouldn't be strapped by dead Cap Room... and the money would still be spent on players salaries... The better the NHL Product is, the higher their share is.

What good is dead Cap?... Who other than older high-end players really benefit when the point comes where they can no longer play?... In the end, the fans lose... Why would the NHLPA care?

I would normally agree, but in an effort to reduce Timmo's minutes somewhere, I think it may make a lot more sense for him to log more minutes on the PK and even strength than on the PP1.

To me, I think you definitely want to roll with Timmo, Schenn, Coburn and Grossmann in some combination on your two penalty kill units. If that's the case, there's almost no way to cut Timmonen's minutes unless you play him on the 3rd pairing at even strength. which I suppose it's aweful other than separating him from Schenn.

He's similar to carle but not as turnover prone and has a good shot. Ok he's nothing like carle...

A good stop gap. Especially if we draft a defenseman in the first round this year. It would mean there would be no pressure to rush him.

Why does everyone keep saying that Streit turned down 3 years 5.5? Does anyone have a link for those numbers? Best I saw Islanders offer was 3 years at 4.75.

#Isles Last contract offer made by Isles to Streit came before trade deadline. Three years, $4.75 million per.
So now let's stop saying he turned down 5.5 million per year.

Yeah let's not mess with the chemistry. Our 2nd unit had no chemistry anyway so adding Streit couldn't possibly hurt.
