it would take an astronomical price for Buffalo to actually agree to trade Tyler Myers

If that's the case nobody is interested, he's been in decline since his rookie season not a very good résumé.

Not willing to pay the price that Buffalo would ask for him. (likely the 6th overall) +.

He wasn't great this year either. Not that interested.

Oh, another "I want Tyler Myers on my team, but when you tell me what it would actually cost I'm just going to bash him -- even though if I actually believed what I was saying I probably wouldn't have made this thread in the first place" thread. I wonder how this will end.

Couldn't have said it any better. Seems like there are a lot of these threads popping up...

Buffalo has invested into Myers. Unless someone is willing to pony up an overpayment for him, we have no need to trade him otherwise. Our defense is weak as it is, and we're banking on him returning to form. If he doesn't, it's just money, which we are in no dire straits either financially or in cap form. He may never turn out as good as many Buffalo fans thought he was, but I have no doubts that how poorly he played last year was any indication of the kind of player he will become. IMO, he will be a top 4 guy at the very least.

1 person wanting him does not equal the entire fanbase wanting him. And no one actually said what it would cost, there is a good chance these people just simply don't want Myers.

It would most likely have to involve Brodie.

Brodie, Baertschi, 2014 1st are all intriguing pieces to name a few.

Not sure, don't really want to trade him.

Yea I understand why Buffalo would want Brodie but I wouldn't move Brodie for Myers straight up. I don't think we are good trading partners.

That would be an awfully risky and stupid decision to make at this point.
Brodie outplayed and out produced Tyler Myers last season, and is actually tracking in a positive direction in his career. In addition to that he is also not locked into a long term, high dollar contract.

I just don't think we have the pieces that would be made available (6th overall, Brodie and Baertschi are off limits) in order to get talks seriously started between the two clubs.

Exactly... I would not mind having Myers, but the Flames are not in a position to trade away players like Brodie or Baertschi. If something could be worked outside of that, then I would not have a problem with the deal. Plus, Buffalo would probably want more than just Brodie.

You would be correct with that assertion.

I am not saying I would do the deal, but figure that is what Buffalo would ask for.

Don't want to pay the price. We are in no position to trade for a big fish.

Not saying I would, but would the 22nd and 28th picks this year be enough?

So our most important player going forward for a bunch of trash? Where do I sign up?

No. Buffalo has no reason to trade him unless top shelf talent is coming back. Myers is a very unique player and a potentially dominant one. Buffalo has invested, and continues to invest, a lot in him. A pair of late 1sts that may or may not become NHLers of any caliber isn't going to pry Myers away from the Sabres.

I'll save everyone a lot of time here: If you're not willing to pay for his potential, any offer is an easy no for Buffalo. We risk nothing but cash in keeping him, but we risk being the dumb***es that traded away #1 defenseman for crap if we sell low on him.

Resounding no. I only want us to move Myers if it is part of moving way up in the draft or as part of a blockbuster trade.

I'd think about it. Mainly if I thought we could use the 6th to go higher up and the 6th was a better piece to move up than Myers by himself. Thanks for the proposal.

No thanks. I am not passing up the opportunity to finally add a center to build this team around on the hope that Myer's bounces back to previous form.
