Same with me in a way. I used to love everything Eskimos, but they have gradually died for me over the last few years especially.
Not me. I grew up during the most miserable years - the nasty ’60s, which were worse than this latest debacle, in my opinion. I grew up in the Knothole Gang at Clarke. I still love everything EE. I purchased two Commonwealth seats yesterday. They're much more than EE memorabilia, but they remind me of lots of great times at Commonwealth.
I am the exact opposite of you. If you switched the words 'Oilers' and 'Esks' you would sum up my feelings perfectly.
Last night even my in-laws were noticing that not only was I not watching the Blackhawks/Kings game, I didn't even know that they were playing and that the defending Cup champs were facing elimination. Starting during the '06-07 season the Oilers losing ways (and their gutless way of losing) have almost completely turned me off of NHL hockey. Meanwhile, I renewed my Eskimos season tickets this year without a second thought despite the Maciocia & Tillman reigns of error and no Grey Cup wins since 2005.
Yeah I'm pretty much the same.
I think the difference for me is that there's no rebuilds in football, no tanking for draft picks, etc. Every year 30% of the roster gets turned over so it's kind of like a clean slate. That said, I did refuse to attend games until Maciocia was fired starting in 2008. I was reluctant to renew this year when Reed didn't get fired, but did so in the end.
The Oil continuing to lose in such a gutless manner (Stortini and MacIntyre getting shipped out was the last straw for me), and the continuous hiring of pathetic coaches in Renney and Krueger by MacT and Lowe who should have both been banished from the org. permanently several years ago killed them for me. Still follow them and cheer for them, but not like I used to. Wouldn't even consider spending money on a ticket to an Oil game these days.
WTF with this weather? Work all day and its nice outside and you miss it. Drive home from work and everytime its looking like Apocalypse Now approaching on the horizon with massive storms and windstorms interrupting another of our few summer evenings..
I'm starting to feel like this guy:
(great movie btw, Take Shelter )
Crazy weather. I gotta work longer tomorrow anyway.

I know Nichols is starting tonight but i wonder if Reilly will start during the second half? Since he was pretty much our biggest acquirement next to Odell Willis, it would make more sense to start him for the first pre-season game because i am sure many people want a glimpse, especially since it's a home game. Instead, Reilly is starting against his former team. I'm pretty sure the Lions know him way too well, Kavis.
