Its come up a fair bit on the main board about how Subban wouldn't have done as well if he was playing top pairing the entire season like Suter.

When Subban was a top pairing guy he was paired with either Gorges or Markov. Combined he was +16/-12 with those two, and was +432/-326 on shot attempts. These both work out to a 57% ratio, which is dominant.

If you look at Subban and Suter's seasons all Suter really has that can attempt to make up for Subban's point totals are his TOI numbers.. Im very biased but i really dont see how Suter's season could even be comsidered equal to Subban's let alone clearly better which is what many people are saying on the main board

The main board has some serious hate for PK, like we do here for Chara...must be a good thing?

I gave up reading all the BS and ******** in the mainboard thread early in thread 1.. Thing is everyone of these people crapping on Subban would dearly love to have him on their respective teams just like we would love having Chara on the Habs. Nice to have a player like PK on the Habs..

If he indeeds win the Norris, PK Subban will be viewed as a Superstar instead of a star. The last superstar we had was back in 95'

Edit: Theo in early 2000s but it was so short lived.

A scouting report that was only accurate when he was 18 years old?

The thing with PK that is actually pretty remarkable is how consistently he drives goal differential for his teams.

19 years old Belleville: +47. nobody on his team close, only behind guys from a stacked Windsor squad.
20 YO Hamilton: +46, best on team by a long shot, one the best +/- seasons in the recent history of the AHL.
21-23 Montreal: +36 (140+/104-) over 3 seasons 5 on 5, leads team over that stretch for a mile averaging the hardest minutes on the squad, one of the best in the league over that stretch.

They can not like his style all they want, it gets results

The arguments of TtG follow from statistics 101.

If a forward with 9% shooting skill takes 200 shots a year, you expect 18 goals from him. But the standrad deviation will be 4.2 goals, and he will be off by that amount or more every third year (on average). Youvthen also need to add noise due to injuries, for example the years where he only plays 40 games.

Yeah, underpaid for one more year, and then... BOOM!! goes his contract.

I respect Bergevin's ability to win the staring contest with Subban for this contract, but I'm even more convinced it would've been better for the player and the budget to lock him up long-term five months ago. Our temporary savings now will cost us much more in the long run.

But this isn't the thread for that. I'm a major fan of the guy and paying a star what he's worth should be the worst problem we have.

Once you see the "Quebec defender" and that he played a more "complete" game than Pernell you should know this guy has no idea what he is talking about and it's a shame he got a ballot.

Quote:
rolleyes indeed.

I might be wrong but with a standard deviation of 4 goals wouldn't you expect him to score between 14 and 22 goals two thirds of the time, less than 14 goals 1/6 of the time and more than 22 goals 1/6 of the time.

I think we are saying the same thing, just expressing it differently.

Gagnon is dead to me. This guy should not be allowed to be on RDS or the papers. Ban him 4 life.

I bet he voted for every Quebequois that he could in every trophy....barring that, anyone who played in the Q. The guy is a horrible pure laine lover.

Isn't he a bitter nordiques ex-fan as well? And this guy is allowed the possibility to sway public opinion (the non initiated MTL hockey fans anyway)? Disgusting.

..okay, sorry for rant. Back on topic...

I wonder if Karlsson told Letang: ''Sorry, you're not winning the Norris.'' during the handshakes?

Seems like it.

In fact, I don't ever recall such leaks ever happening for the NHL awards. I think somebody really screwed up here.
