wow

old time hockey

The Garden has so many quirks. We've all heard about the gignatic rats in there. The rink was super small. But i didn't remember that the the visiting team had to go through the bruins bench to get to their room. You knew something was gonna happen there.

Call me barbaric but I'm kinda sad knowing that this kind of stuff will never happen again. Bench clearing brawls. I forogt how much they get your mojo going.

I mostly remember nilan as a bruin. But he did come back to finish his career as a hab.

OMG that was beautiful...Gotta love Nilan. "I don't put up with a whole lot..." - no kidding!

The best was Roy running to the corridor looking for someone to scrap with. Now that was a time of team unity!!

That ladies and gentleman is why the league no longer allows teams to have the entrance/exit to the lockers right next to a team bench.

I remember the afternoon the Canadiens were playing here in Ottawa against the 67s, when Linseman got into the middle of a big brawl and allegedly kicked Jeff Geiger from the 67s in the forehead when Geiger was down on the ice. Blood was flowing from Geiger's head and he went wild.

Linseman denied doing it, of course, but, someone's skate opened up that forehead.

Now that the rule have taken out the stickwork, goons aren't really necessary anymore, but something is lost that's for sure.

I was really impressed by the team unity of that era.
It just doesn't exist anymore : so few teamates stand up for each other.

Look at Roy & Momesso fighting to get into the hallway to make sure that Nilan is not being ganged-up on on by Bruins players, fans, cops etc..

That is what I call TEAM SPIRIT !!!

Gotta love Chris Nilan.
Remember the line of Gainey-Nilan-Carboneau ??
Those were the days...

And on that team we also had Chelios, Lemieux, Corson.
Talk about a tough team to play against !
