*OFFICIAL* Blainville-Boisbriand, Armada 2013-14 Thread

Couple of issues:

- We need to get bigger and tougher

- We need to replace Ouellet on D

- We need to figure out which 20's will be back

- We need to draft an impact EURO at the CHL import draft like Kucherov, Zykov or Zlobin.

- What happens with the first pick we dealt to SJ for Tesink?

Potential lineup:

Clapperton (19) - Roy (19) - EURO
Sanche (18) - Hodhod (19) - Tesink (20)
Jevpalovs (19) - Martel (19) - Hinds (19)

Picard (20) - Bahl (17)
Beaudoin (17) - Hoyles (19)
Bérubé (18) - Bédard (18)

Marcoux (20) - Decelles (19) - Phaneuf (18)

I honestly expect A LOT of changes. We've got interesting pieces, I think Bouchard will be very active and will build a good team.

It's not that bad of a lineup. Forward corps and goaltending are great. Even more if you get a top euro guy in the Kucherov ilk. Could be a killer. The D is problematic. Barely anyone on there can play a real top-4 role right now. Bouchard will need to figure out which pieces he will move out (maybe a guy like Clapperton) for a good quarter-back.

Matthew Cusson will be on the team, he's Q ready.

This is a solid core but I agree that the D is weak... I'm very sure that the 1st round pick isn't coming back.

Is there any chance that Phaneuf becomes the starter ?

Maybe Marcoux and Tesink are traded and the Armada retool ?

The D is very weak, Armada will need at least 2 D... What assets do you have ?

Not much, honestly, we do have Cusson and Tremblay as two solid prospects up front, though. But we have no picks in the top-30 I think. I think there's a chance Bouchard deals one of Roy or Clapperton for some more muscle and defensive help, or maybe he'll make a coup at the import draft and bring in two high profile guys.

Who knows. At this rate, we'll need to wait it out in order to find out if Paquette, Tesink and Marcoux come back as 20s. If they all do, we'll be in good shape, if they don't, we'll struggle to get home ice in the playoffs and the re-tool will be longer.

I wouldn't mind Phaneuf as the starter, he looked good in game 5. I doubt Decelles has the making of a strong starting goaltender.

I think that Bouchard should rebuild, they aren't good enough too win and don't have enough assets.

I'm not sure if you'll see Tesink back. He's signed by St. Louis...

If Tesink stays in Peoria and since your defense looks a little weak , Melindy or Emond could be had for cheap..

Training camp should be interesting. Defense looks to be a problem as we don't have any true top-pairing guy. Looks like we will use a defense by community and see who emerges. Some interesting names in this lineup though. Size is still a bit of an issue.

Clapperton (19) - Roy (19) - Martel (19)
Sanche (18) - Tesink (20) - Jevpalovs (19)
Cusson (17) - Hodhod (19) - Hinds (19)
Houle (17) - Cote (17) - Strong (18)
Grandmaison (19) - MacKenzie (19) - Mongo (16)

Picard (20) - Bahl (17)
Leduc (19) - EURO
Hoyles (19) - Bedard (18)
Beaudoin (17) - Schingh-Gomez (16)
Berube (18) - Bellavance (18)

Marcoux (20) - Decelles (19) - Phaneuf (18)

Roy: 87 pts
Clapperton: 85 pts
Tesink: 68 pts
Sanche: 64 pts
Jevpalovs: 56 pts
Martel: 51 pts
Hodhod: 50 pts
Bahl: 40 pts
Picard: 38 pts
Cusson: 33 pts
Hinds: 32 pts
New Euro: 31 pts
Leduc: 30 pts

I wouldn't expect Tesink back, but that's just me. Don't be surprised if Marti is back in the fold

The Armada know how to find gem's so we'll see what happens.

Quick question on Aaron Hoyles, played against him in hockey quite a bit. Any chance he gets drafted say 6-7th round?

There's always a chance a team falls in love with a player but I highly doubt it.

You think the Q is where his hockey career ends? To be honest im surprised Armada even drafted him. This tough guy hoyles isnt who I remember at all, was a offense first kinda d

I could see him playing AUS after the Q. It happens a lot with defenceman. They're star players until Junior but then the competition is much higher and forces them into a smaller role. I know first hand because It happened to me.

Nope. Never made it to major junior. My point was that I was an ppg defenceman until I hit Midget , then was more a shutdown guy cause points didn't come as easy because the competition was a lot stronger. A lot of current shutdown defenceman in the Q were star offensive guys until they reached this level. It's common.

Well I guess Hoyles is just the kind of guy that would do anything just to stick around. Because he definitely isnt an offensive D right now. I mean yes he is a good skater and can make a good first pass, but that's about it. Not the biggest shot or hockey sense really. Can't really carry the puck effectively into the offensive zone.

But I expect him to have a big role this coming season. He is very tough and will fight anybody. Defensively he has been coming along nicely. He should be a top-4 D next season for us. A real leader.

Hoyles never struck me as an offensive guy, more like a rugged D.

Mods, can you make this a sticky ?

I will likely be at the CESR on Sunday Aug 18th for the game against Gatineau. Looking forward to it.

Also looking forward to seeing all the moves Bouchard is going to pull.

We're waiting on the official training camp rosters to start discussing. There are a lot of Armada fans on the internet that will populate this thread, don't worry. Can't wait for it all to start.
