Dixie Flyers Alternate Jersey

We don't have an official third jersey to go with our current set, and I've got a weird idea: Let's bring back the Dixie Flyers home jersey as our 3rd.

One of the colors is the same, and it'd be a great tribute to our hockey history. Designing prices would be low since they would just put this on a new template, and sales would be great IMO, creating a nice profit margin. We just can't wear it when we play Philadelphia

Thoughts?

I would imagine we could do the color pattern, but the Preds are going to want their logo on it.

Shoulder patches maybe?

Although a quick search revealed these monstrosities

I looooove this idea. Hockey tradition in the south.

Anybody on the board see the DF's play at Municipal?

They were before my lifetime. Did see the South Stars, Knights, Ice Flyers and what was the last one, Nighthawks?

They might go with the design but with NHL marketing contratcs and such there is no way they dont have a Predators type logo and the Predators name. Plus there is no telling who actually owns the rights to the name "Dixie Flyers"

I doubt anyone owns the rights to Dixie Flyers anymore, but if they do a patch of DF in the old Dixie Flyers' font could be added to the pants or as a shoulder patch.

Or perhaps "Nashville" could be done in the Dixie Flyers font, if not the names on the back.

I never saw the DFs play either. I did catch the Knights and the Nighthawks. My grandpa used to have breakfast with a few of the old Dixie Flyers practically every morning. He got me a signed team photo.

Always felt if the Preds has a Winter Classic deal they could use these, since there is no throwback for us. I love the idea as an alternate as well. Such a classy jersey

I've seen all the Nashville teams, from the Dixie Flyers to the Preds.

Scouts got in free to the Dixie Flyers games, I remember going with our troop and the den mother getting mad because we starting chanting "fight" over and over. I also remember getting autographs along the boards while the team was warming up before the game.

Fantastic idea. Did someone mention that NHL laws wouldn't allow old names? That's disappointing. MLB has been doing this lately with real old franchise names on jerseys. I'd love to see the boys wear that sweater.

I just tweeted this idea to Sean Henry and the predators. A few more tweets wouldn't hurt.

I would need to see them in a real jersey. Don't like that mockup, but it's hard to know what they'd really look like.

Sean Henry reponded to me about the Dixie Flyers thirds:

Would look great but don't see it on the horizon
