I'd love to know how the conversation between the 2 GMs about a trade like this starts...

Tallon: Wanna swap talented guys who can't really establish themselves in the NHL, David?

Poile: Sure, why the hell not?

Kinda surprised. Brennan was looking very good in his limited time in Florida.

reason why brennan was moved is because colby robak have to go through waivers to play in the AHL so they'll let him stay in NHL

The Predators now have Weber, Josi, Klein, Gill, Blum, Ellis, Bartley, and Brennan that had significant NHL time last year, with management saying they planning on Ekholm being up and rumors that Ole-Kristian Tollefson is joining our blue line as well. That makes 10 defenseman who should be on an AHL roster. Something has to give.

I expect Blum to be dealt before next year, along with possibly Gill or Bartley.

I thought Brennan showed more this yr in terms of future potential than Robak though. I personally would've traded Robak instead of Brennan and let TJ occupy that roster spot in the NHL. Guess Tallon didnt quite like enough of what he saw

Thought Brennan was coming alive in Florida.

I suppose this is a trade to try to address areas of concern for both teams, in a very minor way of course. Florida gets a forward and Nashville gets a defenseman. Brennan helps on the PP.

I don't know, ever since Butler left Ottawa I thought he'd be an NHL-AHL tweener and it seems that way still. He just isn't good enough for a top-six role and isn't at all suited for a bottom-six one. Brennan I think still can play bottom-pairing minutes as an NHL defenseman.

A minor league trade? This will get Ducks GM Bob Murray going. Nobody outtrades him on the minor league level!

What do you expect for Blum? I'd be interested in him on Ottawa.

Butler was a decent player here. Getting something for a waiver pickup is nice

I think Blum would be a great replacement for Hainsey in Winnipeg.
