How do you come to that conclusion?

He can only sign one offer sheet. It's a legal and binding SPC and a player may only have one valid and current SPC signed at a time.

This is what I'm thinking. Maybe less if we really get lucky and he wants to spread the money out so we can keep everyone else too.

Hopefully the deal gets done this summer.

No, he's going to sign all of them. And the the mean nasty Flyers will be super sad they gave an offer sheet to Weber and Homer will cry.

It's what happens when you offer sheet someone, because it's clearly an illegal and dirty forbidden maneuver.

This is all sarcasm, by the way.

A Nashville fan asked in the Streit thread on the trade and rumors board if they could offer sheet Streit right now.

If that happened I would pay money to be in his agent's office when that fax comes in.

Well the thing is Streit is a UFA so he can't be offer sheeted, it would just be a regular contract offer. They could sign him without giving up any assets when free agency starts assuming the Flyers don't reach a deal by then.

They didn't overpay for Hartnell, Simmonds, and Voracek deals last year.

They might overpay for free agents but rarely do they overpay for their own guys especially RFA's.

I doubt he signs for $7M, I think $7.5M is more likely which is fine by me.

As good a time as any to tie him up with the season we had. I'm guessing he gets around max length at around 8 mil per.

Obviously the Voracek deal looks great now, but when it happened consensus was it was the high end of the fair spectrum

Yeah but that wouldn't fit under the overpay category is what I was saying there.

I think he'll fetch 8, but G does seem like he wants to win more than he wants to get paid, either way he's the best player on this team and the captain so pay the man

Giroux is smart. He's seeing that paying a couple guys too much doesn't help the Pens. I think he'll sign a lot cheaper than that.

8 years x $6.5MM. He'll take Briere's cap hit as a gesture of good faith that the $1.5MM we save will help sign Jagr!

Kind of ironic that you say this about Giroux's next contract replacing the expiring one at $3.75 million.

Giroux signed a pretty friendly deal the last time. I know it was during his 76 point season but it was a month into the season when he signed it. If he would have waited till the end of the year he could have really drove up his price. Hopefully he cuts us a break again but if not I can't say I'd blame him.

Yea, I expect the same. Obviously I think we are all hoping for the low end... but even the high end... it's ****ing Giroux...
