Denis Denisov is still listed as their NA property somewhere too.

Are they still Sabre property or do the webmasters at Sabres.com just like to update the pages of old Russians?

Denisov was drafted 2 CBA's ago!! Wasn't there some sort of "defected" status for Europeans back then that let teams hold rights until UFA age? Maybe they still really do have Denisov's rights.

But Denisov is UFA age...he's 31.

My hunch is that the stats are being pulled from an online database (hockeydb?), and they just forgot to remove them. Unless one can find links to other guys like Eidsness, Lepkowski, etc...in which case they would just not take any of those pages out.

Both updated. Also added John Scott since he signed a deal.

Those are the profiles for Justin Jokinen, Brad Eidsness, Alex Lepkowski, Steve Shipley, and Maxime Legault... all no longer with the Sabres.

The odd thing is, for each player that is no longer a Sabre, they stop showing the players stats. However, for Denisov and Buravchikov, they have updated stats.

Well he turned 31 this season, so he wouldn't have been UFA until this summer, right?

Sorry for the Denisov free agency rights derailment.

They never signed him to an SPC. He's been with them on a minor league deal, similar to Legault.

Wasn't sure where to post this but recently my buddy met and has become good friends with Ville Leino. He was hanging out at the Pink because he loves the rock n roll music and he himself plays and loves rock n roll. He said Ennis is his favorite teammate and that Myers is a baby lol. Seeing all the text messages and stuff he sends he seems to be a really nice, proud, cool, and even well spoken guy(his texts are almost always perfect grammar, even in English).

More encouraging I guess was that he got real serious when talking about how much he absolutely hates losing and why this season was so frustrating. Despite missing Philly he said he really badly doesn't want to get bought out and right now is working hard every day rehabbing with the medical staff and training for next season. Overall, a really cool guy (for what it's worth) with a great personality and the desire to succeed in Buffalo.... Quickly Leino has become one of my favorite Sabres to root for next year and to see establish himself as a legit top 6 winger.

I love hearing inside stories like this.

As far as a buyout goes, Leino shouldn't get bought out this summer. With the likes of Vanek and Miller probably out the door, having a vet guy around is needed on and off the ice.

Also with all that money off the books, Ville's paycheque doesn't hurt as bad. And as you mentioned, it could be a great chance for to establish himself as a solid top 6 performer.

And if he's inconstant and/or hurt and/or disappointing again in 13-14, then the buyout will probably occur.

Im embarrassed to ask this, because I usually know the answer, but do we still hold North American rights on these guys since we gave them a qualifying offer when they were RFA and their contracts were up?

Player DOB
Persson, Dennis D 6/2/1988
Szczechura, Paul F 11/30/1985
Turnbull, Travis RW 7/7/1986
McCauley, Dennis RW 8/15/1985
Gogulla, Phillip LW 7/31/1987
Zagrapan, Marek C 12/6/1986

Do we lose their rights upon their 27th birthday (UFA)?

Updated Weber. Added Tallinder, Ellis. Removed Gerbe, Boychuk.

I believe they are at 44 contracts right now IF you include their RFAs (Hodgson, Adam, Crawford, Flynn, Tropp, Hackett). 38 without.

Any idea why Lepkowski wasn't signed or whether there's a chance he still could be? I thought he was considered a solid d-prospect on the upswing, no?

Yeah, especially with the latest draftees that makes sense. Still, I kinda liked the kid.

With pretty much everyone who is going to be signed now under contract, seems like a good idea to update the first post with the new contract details

Unless something changed in the CBA, Peterson's rights should extend throughout college until August 15, 2018, as he's currently at Cedar Rapids/USHL, but is committed to SCSU; same goes for Petersen who's currently playing for Waterloo/USHL, not Notre Dame.
