It was Arnott in the middle with Legwand and Erat on the wings and they lit it up. Then guys came back from injuries and Legwand went back to the middle.

What about Michael Ryder? All the guy does is score goals. While not a Trotz player, he scores goals and has tons of playoff experience. I think he would be an interesting, relatively affordable option should we not get Horton.

If we keep SK, I think they would compliment each other beautifully. As long as Ryder and Trotz can play nice, I'm in, but he's worn out his welcome with one too many teams for my liking.

Also heard from a couple Habs fans saying he can shoot, but is terrible on D. They did go on to say that he could actually help us.

I'm trying really hard to recall what games he played wing but can't even remember which year Pretty sure it was only a couple games though.

It can only be 4 years. Lol. It lasted 5-10 games if memory serves me. Dumont and Sully may have been injured at the time and/or possibly Kariya.

If anyone knows where I can find line combinations or something like that for games I can do the research and find the season that Arnott centered Erat and Legwand. I've looked around but can't find anything that is easy to navigate.

Found it. It was 1/8/09 and 1/10/09. On 1/11/09 he was back at center with Erat and Tootoo on his wings. He was 3+1 in those two games, however 1 goal was shorthanded (while playing center), and another was an empty net.

For some reason I thought it was a longer stint and though his production was iffy at best as one goal was a shorty and the other was an empty netter, that line seemed to produce a ton of chances throughout the game and we all thought that the speed of Erat and Legwand on the wings opened up space for everyone out there. Would almost like to see Wilson in the pivot with Legwand and Forsberg on the wings.

I'd like to see some speed injected back into the line-up. We've gotten noticeably slower the last few years.

Agreed. I believe Poile will be active in the trade market to land a couple of pieces and open up some spaces that are filled by bottom-6 forwards into more skill throughout the lineup.

Interesting quote from Ek on Brad Richards. Richards could be headed back to Dallas or to Nashville according to his sources. Interesting.

presumably only after a buyout? I just dont see us taking on his actual cash salary the next 4 years even if his cap hit is less... that or else NYR retains about half his salary

Nothing was said about salary or buyout but it is Ek so I doubt it happens. If it did happen before the draft maybe we alter our draft plans because of it, then again, it never hurts to be strong up the middle.

I just cant see us adding 8-9 million in actual salary for the next 4 years for a guy who was scratched in the playoffs

If it's done i am sure Nashville want take on all of the bad contract. Funny thing is he was scratched in the playoffs but if signed by Nashville he would immediately be the best forward on the roster

If he gets bought out, I'd love to have him at a respectable price. That said, I want nothing to do with that current contract unless the Rangers eat most of it. The team is now much younger. No need to add a bloated contract like that.

Despite what rock-solid source Eklund says, the rumor is that Tortorella's dismissal likely bought Richards at least another year. They want to see how he'll react to playing for a more offense-oriented coach in Vigneault.

The more I hear about Streit, the more I want us to stay far, far away. Islanders fans are glad they're letting him go, and as bad as their defense is, that should tell us something. He played some time on their third pairing last year, and we want him (one year older) on our 2nd? No thanks.
