How the hell is this guy thinking?

Schneider/Luongo/Läck is above him in the ranking but although he signs with Canucks.

Seams very strange to me!

Maybe canucks told him its him vs lack for the back up job? If he can be a back up on a top team like Vancouver why not? On top of it the canucks have a bunch of swedes so he can fit right in.

Right now he is the #3-5
After training camp he could be #2-4.

One of luongo or Schneider will be gone by the start of training camp, then his play against the play of lack and cannata will decide where he fits on the depth chart.

Probably for development purposes. If one of Luongo/Schneider is gone, he will likely fight with Lack for the backup job, especially with Lack's recent surgury, we'll see if he is up to speed in the upcoming season.

Vancouver has done a top notch job developing goalies in the past few years (Schneider could turn into an elite goalie, while Lack, and Cannata are looking really good), and Eriksson probably saw an opportunity to show some teams in the AHL, or possibly a backup job in the NHL.

Btw: The guy was concidered promising until he was around 30 years old. Then it was discovered that he had some kind of asthma and when he got medication for that he improved greatly over a summer. I'm not sure this is 100 % truth but it's a rumour I've heard.
Eriksson could definitely do well in a shut down 3rd/4th line center job in the NHL. But a player like him tends to disapear in the shuffle along the way unless a team really commits to him.

Exactly. There were five billion better teams to go to, starting with the Kings (if they trade Bernier), Blues (if they trade Halak and/or Elliott), Carolina (only Ward), Winnipeg (needs a backup), the list goes on...

Best defender in the regular season in SEL for sure. I think he'll do much better this time around in NHL if he can stay healthy.
