I know you're joking but the time on ice thing is more of a reflection of the screw up of Therrien/Bergevin with Subban's contract than anything else.

They did not see him as elite, they made him hold out with a ridiculous low ball offer, then proceeded with giving him no ice time and playing him on the 3rd pair until Diaz got injured. Only then, did they give him more of a shot. Hell, I remember distinctly all the posters crying about Subban being on the first PP unit. They said he was screwing up our PP. It seemed like the coaching staff thought so too. What a ridiculous notion when you consider Subban finished top 3 for pts on the PP (if not 1st).

In short, if our management had pulled its head out of its ass, there wouldn't even be anything resembling a debate about who the Norris winner is/should be.

@JohnBorukCSN:
Because there's very little PK in PK Subban's game, he shouldn't even be considered as the league's top defenseman.

2010/2011
- 42nd among NHL D in SHTOI/60min on 7th best PK team in NHL: link
- 1st in PPGA/60 for D that are top 60 in SHTOI/60min: link
2011/2012
- 38th in the NHL in SHTOI/60min on 2nd best PK team in NHL: link
- 2nd in PPGA/60 for D that are top 60 in SHTOI/60min: link

Anyone that questions Subban's ability to kill penalties just proves they're basing their opinion on pure bias/hate/haven't followed Subban or Habs at all.

Came here to post similar findings..

Subban is in fact one of the best penalty killing defenseman in the league. Probably the most underrated Norris winner in recent history, the hate he is subjected to is absolutely undeserved.

People who've seen him play the past 3 seasons see he is Top 10 defenseman in the league.

Have never found them glamorous myself, if it's the one NHL related thing I never watch. To each their own of course and I know I'm in the minority. But this is just a temporary setup anyway due to the lockout, will be back to normal next year.

You aren't missing anything other than TV guys talking to the winner either on the phone or in their broadcast location in the arena.
