There is no bias towards Habs players when it comes to winning trophies in the NHL. Go back and look at what Theodore did for the Habs that season. He was as deserving as Iginla would have been when you look at how well they both played and what they helped their teams to achieve.

By the way, Galchenyuk COULD have been selected as one of the nominees for the Calder this year. His numbers were quite impressive when you consider he was just 4 points behind Yakupov while playing 2:14 less per game with less than half the PP time that Yakupov had. Galchenyuk was also a +14. You think if Galchenyuk played another 100 minutes on the ice he might have gotten a few more points? You know, it isn't like Yakupov outscored every other rookie by a significant amount.

Man, you guys don't have to be bitter towards the Habs' players. I said it would be equally acceptable to me if Yakupov would have won and you all act like I said Yakupov sucks. It isn't my fault, nor the Canadiens' fault that Yakupov was left out of the Calder voting. Find someone else to blame.
Subban had a great year, I'm not downplaying that at all. Despite what you say, Theodore shouldn't have won the Hart that year. Hell, Sean Burke was the most valuable goalie and that is undisputable. The Habs media has more votes. You use the last Norris winner being in 88-89 as evidence? When did the Habs have a top 10 d-man in that time. Same with the Calder, when have they had realistic nominees prior to Gallagher this year?

Markov could have won in 2008-2009. Lidstrom won (and he was equally deserving of the trophy), but an argument for Markov could be made since he had more points than Lidstrom while playing on a far weaker team.

Subban could have been considered for the Calder in 2010-2011. Jeff Skinner won (he was equally deserving), but an argument could have been made for Subban.

Those are 2 examples of Habs' players who could have won the Calder or Norris in the last 5 years, but didn't. Does it bother me? No. The guys who won were equally deserving. That doesn't mean I wasn't rooting for my guys to win it.

Theodore and Burke both had amazing seasons when Theodore won the Hart. Burke won 3 more games, Theodore played in 7 more games and posted a significantly better GAA (2.11 vs 2.29) and Save Percentage (.937 vs .920). He led the Canadiens into the playoffs as the eighth and final seed in the Eastern Conference and was a pivotal factor in upsetting the top-ranked Boston Bruins in the first round. So, no, it was not Indisputable that Burke was the better goalie when you look at the year, the numbers, and what each goalie meant for his team.

If Gallagher wins it is because he deserves it. I would have said the same if Yakupov would have been nominated and won. I would rather see Gallagher win it, but it isn't going to cause me to lose sleep if he doesn't. Most likely Huberdeau will win it because of the team he was on and how well he did in spite of his team. Will I cry? No, I will hope that the kid enjoys his trophy and move on with my life.

I am more bitter about losing to Ottawa in 5 than I am about whether or not some player gets a trophy that will lead to his salary going up higher and faster.

Seriously.

I still don't understand how Saad got so many votes.

Do these people actually watch hockey?

I can totally understand Gallagher winning but Huberdeau winning just makes Yakupov's exclusion and 5th place finish even worse.

He should demand a trade to the Eastern conference. He'd probably win a scoring title or two playing against pylons and goalie cutouts.

Getting carried by Teows and Hossa for a season means you are a great player.

How on earth did Gallagher lose to Huberdeau?

Gallagher was the only nominee who deserved to even be nominated. What a joke. Yak, Brodin, Galch, and Muzzin were all better and they weren't even nominated.

Every award won by a player in the eastern timezone? Or is Columbus central?

RNH had multiple 4th and 5th place votes last year. Calder voting is a joke

The NHL awards are only good for finding out which players are most popular amongst the Eastern media and their ten o' clock EST bed times.

Yeah. Gallagher deserved it of the nominees. It was a sham to see Saad in the top 3, even worse to see Huberdeau win.

So let me get this straight, Huberdeau received 169 votes and Nail got 122. So 47 voters didn't even have Yak in their top 5? Or perhaps better context is 28% of voters didn't think the leading scorer among rookies was worthy of a 5th place finish. Not sure what to say.

Does anyone know when they are announcing the first and second all star team rosters. I'm curious to see if Hall made either.
